Absolutely beautiful place to visit! I recommend wearing cool/moisture wicking clothes, taking lots of hydration, a beach umbrella or canopy, and of course digging tools. SO.MANY.CRYSTALS! 😍

My wife and i dug two separate days (6/3/22 & 6/5/22) we did the $25 the first day to get a feel and the $100 the second day. Had a blast! Dug some great crystals. Owner David was very nice and helpful as well as his daughter who checked on us to make sure we weren't getting to hot. We will return soon!

I can’t express how incredible this experience was. Timing was incredible. We arrived right after a rainstorm end of March. It was. Sparkle ✨ everywhere. My sister and I drove 3600 miles to Mt IDA AK to the Twin Creek Crystal Mine

Kinda pricey. Lots of good stuff to find. Road is rough getting to area so if you’re in a car, be careful. We heard several vehicles bottom out. Bring lots of water and a spray bottle to cool off your face. Take breaks every hour or so to avoid heat exhaust.

your vehicle will be close by and they have great people ed there that will help if needed
It's $25 per day, you keep everything you find and can carry. Though also sell pockets, those prices range. A pocket is where they have opened a vein, so there is less hunting around but a lot more physical work extracting the crystals from the rock face. Very fun though!
Adam, they have no cell service. We had the same problem. We just showed up during normal business hours of 8 to 4pm. Bring cash! Again, very little to no cell service to run credit cards. I hope this helps.
Yes you can bring a wagon, and though the walk between parking and digging wasn't that long I would recomend using one. Bring your tools, a screwdriver, garden trowel, 3 prong hand cultivator are the minimum I'd recommend along with a bucket or two. Also helpful is a pry bar, medium sized. You should also dress for the weather and bring plenty of water and I would suggest some snacks. A source of shade may be nice as well.
I know this is an older post but I thought I would comment for other people looking and for future references. We stayed at the Joplin Inn which is also part of Mountain Harbor Resort. It is a really cool old style drive up motel that has been remodeled. Prices are right & you get to use all the amenities at Mountain Harbor Resort with out paying the higher price. Don't get me wrong the resort is nice if that's what you're looking for, but the Joplin Inn is perfect if you're on a budget. It's located on the highway and only 9 miles from the mine.
Yes, you can get there with a car. Will require some careful driving, but easly doable
Children are $15 and I think they may have a senior price but I’m not sure. I may be a little cautious bring elderly because the terrain can be rough
We went without any supplies and had to buy cheaply made buckets, gloves and hand shovels. Bring your own equipment. They do not have a campground
They are open from 8am to 4pm yes they open bud 💯🇺🇸😎👍⛏️⛏️⛏️⛏️
It's still fun to be there. If dixie is not there but her husband Bobby will be there and he can show you where the good spots to dig are. :)
It's right outside of Mt. Ida.
You can find more in. The trailing then buying a pocket was my experience. They do open up some pockets for othrr people and the trailing are good
It's up to you. You certainly can if you want, but you don't have to. You can rent supplies there for money.
25 per person on a decent dig, 100$ a person for almost a pocket dig. They have 2 areas 2 different prices all explained when there. Also for tools just bring a shovel and a 5 gallon bucket, hammer, rock pick really up to you and how you wanna do it. Check it out YouTube tons of info on these mines in Arkansas
Yes. I would recommend bringing digging tools from home. A small garden spade and and three prong hand rake will do if you plan on doing the regular dig in the public area of the mine. Most importantly, have fun! Bobby and Toni who handle most of the daily operations are wonderful folks who will take good care of you and will make sure you have a blast!
I went Saturday and they were open.
300 per person for a pocket.
No
I believe yes.
Try Bobby at 501-617-0084 or Toni at 870-490-0361.
When we asked, they told us they were open 7 days a week.
Yea, I saw a dog out there last time I was there (a week ago)... definitely HOT out there, very limited shade
You don't have to reserve a pocket per say. You can ask about it when you get there. We wanted to reserve as well and ended up not reserving after the amount of work required when digging in the pocket. Bring cash! They have very little to no cell service which is why they aren't answering the phone.
25 per adult
We didn't find any blogs. It may be best to give them a call. https://twin-creek-crystal-mine.business.site/
Yes I was there a few days ago and they said it was
When you call Bobby the owner he will determine what you are looking for, the prices start at 300 and can go up into the thousands if you would like. This enables you and one other to dig the vein additional people helping are 25 each. Hope this helps. Twin Creeks Crystal's mine is one of the best, and produces some very collectable crystals. Enjoy!
It says to call to make sure they are open. But I just drove there. You can go there no gate but if they are not open means trespassing. No tour because it is not inside the cave. All it's out in front of you, and you'll dig your own treasure. Make sure to have your tools and proper shoes and conformable clothing. $20 per person. Lots of fun.
2 people are covered under the 300 pocket fee, anyone else is charged 25 dollars a person to dig the pocket
I believe they are 1/2 priced for 12 and under and free for under 6.
I was just there a few weeks ago. Just go well equipped and you'll be fine.
As stated already the price varies. Your best bet is to call and talk to find out how much for what you want.
That will really depend on you and what you feel is to cold. Look up the weather norm for Mt Ida AR online. What I saw said lows around 32 and rarely below 18. For me not to cold, if I'm dressed right, fir my wife way to cold.
If you mean having a seam/pocket opened then yes, a few days in advance ed Your best bet is to call and confirm regardless.
I believe they are open year around
When I was there we were quoted starting st $200 and up. Your best best is to call, leave a message and they will contact you. It may take a day or two but they are very friendly and helpful.
I'm disabled and was there last week. I wasn't able to get up high, but the employees there were great. They helped find a place for me and even helped carry my loot down. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to do much, but I was extremely happy with my experience.
Yes
10 and under are $12 So it would be $25 $12 $12
On the desktop version of their site, not the phone version, they've got a contact email.
Be careful tho. When it is extremely hot out if they aren't getting any business they will close around 2 even tho their sign says 4
There are several state, country, National Forest, and private campgrounds in the area, offering primitive to near-glamping facilities. If you're looking for hotels/motels, there are a couple close to the mine, but more options in Hot Springs, if you don't mind a 45 minute drive. Campgrounds fill up fast on summer weekends, so I recommend making a reservation! Edit: As for the heat, it depends... I've seen 60 in June and 80 in February... Definitely prepare for mosquito swarms that can carry you off and ticks... Take shade to the mine with you, because it's wide open with very little shade.
There's not really tailings, they will clear an area and you do digging in the area. One of the operaters should us a good place and we unearthed a lot of clear crystal. It's like mining, your haul depends on you and luck.
