I know this is an older post but I thought I would comment for other people looking and for future references. We stayed at the Joplin Inn which is also part of Mountain Harbor Resort. It is a really cool old style drive up motel that has been remodeled. Prices are right & you get to use all the amenities at Mountain Harbor Resort with out paying the higher price. Don't get me wrong the resort is nice if that's what you're looking for, but the Joplin Inn is perfect if you're on a budget. It's located on the highway and only 9 miles from the mine.
We stayed at the Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa. I'd recommend that one.
