It's the Glen! Bucket list for motorheads.

We caravanned as a group of classic British cars to drive the speedway. The journey there was beautiful itself. Everything had been pre-planned, and the organizers were very efficient and timely. It was a dream come true to participate in an event like this and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds are immaculately keep; the gardens around the Jack Daniels pavilion were a delight and great backdrop for photos. To drive the Glenn, we simply each needed a valid driver’s license, a vehicle with seatbelts registered in your name, and proof of insurance. As well, there were two waivers to fill out in advance. The countryside is gorgeous as we made several laps. The intent of our RROC/Bentley group was not to race but to experience and celebrate the track. We took in multiple views of the raceway and each one is stunning. One has to love the sounds and excitement of the cars racing around. Our group had booked the Jack Daniels pavilion which sits center stage atop a hill. The food catered in was amazing! This 1948 European-style course has remarkable history. Attending with us was Robert Gillespie, Penn Yan artist, talking about a pivotal moment during his first visit to Watkins Glen International Racetrack in 1960 when he was 11 years old. We bought one of his paintings to commemorate being there with him in person. I highly recommend visiting Watkins Glen International for all history, car enthusiasts, and racers. We now know first-hand why it is called one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world.

I instruct driving at the Glen. You can do it several ways. As little as $150 for one session with BMW or Porsche clubs. With option for 2day event. Check out Niagara PCA, GVC BMW both are structured and safety minded clubs.approximately $600-$700 for most clubs 2 day events. Total cost for a weekend plan on $1000.00 food, hotel, gas etc. Minimum.
Don't watch or listen then . Simple . Or turn off the volume and imagine .
Go to NASCAR.com & look at next year's schedule....looks like Aug. 14-16, 2020.
They always do, it's because there is quite a few Canadians that come to this track.
No the show got cancelled!
There used to be. Once upon a time most NASCAR drivers skipped the road races and teans hired road course drivers to fill in. A handful of teams still use substitute drivers. However with the addition of the Roval in Charlotte to the playoff schedule the top drivers have all been forced to drive the road courses at The Glenn and Sonoma. Sub drivers have become a part of history in modern NASCAR racing as a result.
Yes, but not available yet, not until December or January I believe
I was there, in the rain but sadly I didn't catch her name, nor the name of the young woman interviewing the fans in the grandstands at various stages of this race.
I don't know. I think they played a recording as we were all under the grandstands because of lightning strikes in the area.
No earplugs or hearing protection provided at the gate. You need to bring ear protection with you if you want it. If you're watching a race, I'd highly recommend at least some foam earplugs.
There is a taxi service it was about $25 one way from Sayre Pennsylvania to the racetrack which is about 15 minutes away it was a Best Western Hotel
They have events that allow people to bring their on cars to race. You should check their website for them.
The race is 3:00 pm, 90 laps = 220.5 miles. That's what Watkins Glen had listed for the event. I believe there is also a Saturday event as well. I don't have the laps for the Sat. event.
Check out their website. They will have all the information there. Also, will have a phone number for more information
You can get food and drink with all race venue's no matter what size. But none race venue's I don't know what they do and don't do.
Yes. Agree with Heather. Drove it this year at a special event. Great experience

The Bowlers Association sponsored the race. Its meant to encourage people to Go Bowling and support bowling alleys in their communities.

Indy yes, one race each year. Formula one.. No. My favorite is the IMSA 6 hours at the Glen. First weekend in July. Tickets are $85 for adult, $15 for kids under 18. Spend the extra $50 for premium parking. That allows you to drive around the facility and park by any grandstand you want. Go to the Watkins Glen website. Great weekend!
On occasion they will show media posted by fans on the ISM video screens. However I wouldn't rely on that because it happens when there is nothing happening out on track.
I think you have to bring your own fuel. But deff call ahead
If you are talking formula 1 They don't N NASCAR RACES IN AUGUST IMSA 6 HOUR IN END OF JUNE EARLY JULY VINTAGE RACE IN SEPTEMBER
Being that it's a live race track you should always speak to the management to make sure that a car isn't going to come down in a hurry at you

I would give it another week or so and if by then they have not arived call. Normally they are sent out in a nondescript envelope so as not to attract attention to the content. Hope you enjoy the event
Missed the announcement I would check with the track

Should be over in about a half an hour
I myself do not know that answer but I'm sure if you contact Watkins Glen they would let you know
I'm sure if you ask him nicely
Gee, Karen, I'm not sure. Maybe you could call 1-866-461-RACE to get more information directly.
If you park in the day lots it is free parking you only have to pay if you park at the camping lots
Not sure, but there is usually enough parking to accommodate cars and cycles.
Yes in a small cooler. One of those that hold a 6pack. Cans only . On the website, they have a fan guide of do's and don'ts
No idea on prices. Check the website that is probably listed on your ticket to get more information.
Yes. The Glen's website indicates that for this event, camping opens at 6.am on the wednesday.
General admission is $130 for the weekend and $120 for sunday. These do not include a grandstand seat though - you're looking at $140 weekend and $130 Sunday for that.

It doesn't work that way
If you bring a golf cart, you must have insurance to an amount specified by the track. Contact the track ahead of time to register. I've never brought an ATV but it may be under the same rules
