I have previously had the most awesome treatment with fox chase. MY SUPER TEAM DR. UZZO AND Dr Bergman. Saved my life. However I recently got diagnosed with breast cancer. Theres is only really 2 oncology doc for breast cancer now. The lead doc on leave. The other is at Temple. Im assigned to a nurse coordinator who was not nice, in whish I have never experienced at fox Chace before. One actual oncology doc for the whole women's center. HOW DID THE BEST CANCER HOSPITAL IN THE AREA TURN TO THIS!!!
Grace Accardi
Best place for cancer

Yes, of course.
Hey Cynthia, Yes, people undergoing chemotherapy should get a flu shot, and so should your family members. Cancer and cancer treatment can weaken the immune system, which puts you at higher risk of serious problems if you get the flu. Thanks for reaching out!
Yes you can just get the script from your doctor and ask your Oncologist to schedule it or you can schedule it for yourself.
If u get an second opinion at Fox Chase n it is the exact one as the first one, u can go back to the original doctors who gave you the first diagnosis?
Hello Barbars, Yes, we do accept patients without insurance, but only in certain circumstances. We screen patients who may qualify for free care. For patients who don't have insurance but want it, we also have financial counselors who walk you through applying for the Affordable Care Act, to make sure you get the right health insurance plan for your specific situation. We recommend you call our main phone line 888-FOX-CHASE and and ask to speak to a financial counselor. Thanks!
I would call your Dr and find out.
No
Yes you do. Jeanes hospital next to us does them Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Friday from 8am to11am. Theres a mobile van on the grounds there. I believe you need an appointment . Whoever schedules your colonoscopy should schedule screening also
Hi Kevin, At this time, all inpatients are allowed one visitor at a time between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Visitors must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least two weeks out from their final vaccine dose) and must bring proof of vaccination to be allowed into the inpatient area. We hope this answers your question!
Hi Roger, To schedule an appointment at Fox Chase, you can call 888-369-2427. We hope this helps!
Hi Carrie, Fox Chase Cancer Center accepts many insurance plans. You can see a full list here: http://bit.ly/2EeTEpA. We recommend reaching out to your insurance provider ahead of your first visit to confirm your specific coverage details. We hope this helps!
As a patient of Fox Chase I have nothing bad to say. My experience with my Doctor, Nurses and all the supporting staff were outstanding. Treat me respectfully, always ready when ever there was a need. I will recommend Fox Chase to anyone who is looking for medical treatment. Thank you Fox Chase.
Great question, Audrey! Vascularized lymph node transfer is an option for many lymphedema patients, regardless of if their lymphedema is related to cancer treatment. However, each patient's case is different, so it is best to discuss your specific diagnosis and condition with a plastic surgeon so they can go over all of your options. If you would like to schedule an appointment with one of our plastic surgeons, please call 888-571-6398 or visit https://bit.ly/3ixC837 . We hope this helps!
Hi Virginia, at this time, for the safety of our patients and staff, most visitors are unable to accompany patients to their appointments. However, exceptions to the visitor policy may be made in certain circumstances. If you would like to ask for an exception for your husband, we recommend reaching out to your care team. We hope this helps!
Hi Rahab, Thank you for reaching out to us! At this time, visitors are not able to accompany or visit patients at all Fox Chase locations. Visitors may escort outpatients to our screening stations, but then must exit the facility until it is time for pick up. There will be exceptions made for extreme cases, including end-of-life care and for patients with significant disabilities. If you have questions about exceptions, we recommend reaching out to your husband’s care team. We wish your husband all the best for his procedure and recovery!
Good question, Linda! While Fox Chase does not offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy on our campus, our physicians have referred patients to outside facilities who offer this treatment. Thank you for asking!
I dont know but I'd try. They are very good about taking care of family
This is a great question! On our Main Campus, you may park in the West Garage or East Garage for free. In the West Garage, Levels 1 and 2 have entrances to the West Building (where new patients sign in before their first appointment). In the East Garage on Parking Level A, there is an indoor walkway that leads to the Young Pavilion, which is the location of the Women’s Cancer Center. If you would like more information (including further directions and maps), please visit the following link: http://bit.ly/2u3kJfg.
Thank you for reaching out to us. Under certain circumstances, a visitor who is 18 years of age or older may stay in the hospital overnight. If you are interested in doing so, please ask your husband’s nurse about the guidelines for overnight visitor stays.
Hi Eve, Thank you for reaching out! The American Cancer Society provides free lodging for patients and families who live a certain distance from their treating facility. You can reach the Hope Cancer Lodge, located ¼ of a mile from our Main Campus, at 267-622-6000. Any of the staff at that number will be happy to help you. If you need further assistance and would like to speak with a Fox Chase transportation and housing patient coordinator, please call us at 215-728-3628.

Morning Linda, Fox Chase Cancer Center does not have an Emergency Room. If you're having a medical emergency, we encourage patients to go to the ER of Jeanes Hospital, which is on our same campus. If you're a patient with a less-urgent medical need in between doctor visits or treatments, you may also be directed to Fox Chase's Direct Referral Unit (DRU), which is a 100-bed hospital. This area provides care for Fox Chase outpatients upon referral by their primary Fox Chase medical, surgical, or radiation oncologist. We always encourage our patients to call 215-728-6900 to speak with the Fox Chase doctor on call, who will direct you where to go. Should you elect to go to the Jeanes ER, then please let the staff know that you are a Fox Chase patient and your care team will be notified. Hope this helps!
Hello Maurine, We have a list of health insurance plans we accept on our website: https://www.foxchase.org/insurance-financial-information/accepted-health-insurance-plans. It says we do accept United Healthcare, but it's not clear about whether we accept your specific United Healthcare plan. Please call one of our financial counselors and they can let you know specifically. Call 215-728-3162, and if you don't get a response, try 215-728-2678. Thank you!
No, unfortunately, we don't have an open MRI. For patients who are claustrophobic, are obese, or request their scans to be done with an open MRI for other reasons, we recommend Open Valley MRI in Huntington Valley, or Pennsylvania MRI at Grant and Roosevelt Blvd in Bustleton. If you don't live in the greater Philadelphia region, we suggest searching for a facility in your area with an open MRI machine. We hope this helps!
Hey Tammi, Yes we take Aetna USHC HMO and Aetna USHC HMO Open Access. A full list of insurance plans we accept can be found here: https://www.foxchase.org/insurance-financial-information/accepted-health-insurance-plans. Still I would call us to double check that we accept your specific Aetna HMO plan. You can call one of our patient account representatives at 215-728-3104. Thanks for reaching out!
Hey Charles, We’re so sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis. We’re sure it’s a scary time for you both. To answer your question, getting a second opinion is always a good idea. To get a second opinion, we suggest calling our main line: 888-FOX-CHASE, and asking for a second opinion appointment. After you schedule an appointment, one of our nurse navigators will reach out to you and get you set up with everything our doctors would need to give your wife an accurate second opinion about her diagnosis. In terms of her care team, here’s a look at who would be treating her: https://www.foxchase.org/clinical-care/conditions/brain-and-spinal-tumors-primary/care-team And, you can find more about how to go about getting a second opinion here: https://www.foxchase.org/blog/2018-04-should-you-get-second-opinion-your-cancer-treatment We hope this helps!
Yes there are cottages very close by used by Fox Chase. Speak to them directly.
Hello Harry, Yes, we accept Keystone First. A list of other accepted insurance plans can be found here: https://www.foxchase.org/insurance-financial-information/accepted-health-insurance-plans. Hello, The hospice at Fox Chase is located on the first floor of the hospital. It's managed by Vitas. Thank you.
Hey Shauna, If during your appointment your doctor decides surgery is the best option, a surgery date will be offered to you the day of your consultation. Whether or not we offer you the full da Vinci robotic technique - that decision is entirely up to your surgeon, dependent upon your specific type of cancer. Hope this helps!
Hello Marie, Our cafeteria hours are Monday to Friday. Breakfast is served from 7-10 am; continental breakfast is served from 10-11 am; and lunch is served from 11 am-2 pm.
No, Fox Chase Cancer Center doesn't have an Emergency Room. Please use Jeanes Hospital's ER and if needed the patient will be transfered to Fox Chase for further treatment.
Talk to your doctor about your options. Don't take medical advice from people on Google.
Ducalax suppository, milk of magnesia might help. Magnesium citrate if all else fails

My dad had stage 4 liver cancer.. I'm not 100% sure how long my dad had it. My family and I all think he had it longer then he said.. fox chase did their best to help my dad. But my dad was a test dummy for a new chemo pill. It made him dizzy and disoriented. My dad for almost 6 months claimed he had a hernia. But who knows. But like I said, my dad was 1 of 100 some people to test this knew chemo pill.. my dad found out he had cancer January 5 or the 7. And later died April 8th 2018.
Hi Denise, Whether or not you’ll miss treatments in the interim depends on what type of cancer you have, what type of treatment you’re receiving and what hospital you’re being treated at currently. Many times when patients come in to Fox Chase, our doctors re-evaluate their treatment plan to ensure it’s appropriate because it could be the case that the care you’re receiving at your current medical center does not provide the best pathway to survivorship or doesn’t give you the full range of options. We apologize that this isn’t a cut and dry answer that you may have been looking for. But, we’re here to help. The best thing to do is to call us at 888-FOX-CHASE and ask to speak to a nurse navigator about setting up an appointment for a second opinion. If it is possible to transfer your care, the navigator will guide you through the process. Thanks for reaching out!
