My wife and I went to visit the SPCA in Bucks County, PA yesterday to look at a Black Lab named Roscoe and the staff there were the most pleasant and courteous and helpful. I can not imagine a more sincere and dedicated group of employees as of these young ladies. If you are looking for a pet look no further, this is the place. Thank you for your patience and time in helping us out with Roscoe. With Sincere Appreciation Always, Glenn E and Kathryn L Harvey, Warminster, PA

We stop to see if they had any cats as ours is getting pretty old ( we got her from a similar place). Not sure if they were still open as it was close to the posted closing time, but they were. The person who greeted us was extremely friendly and helpful. We looked at what they had to offer, and left about 1 minute before closing time!!

The Bucks County SPCA operates two open-admission, no-time-limit shelters. We only euthanize if an animal has severe medical or behavioral issues; never because of lack of space or time. We're proud to report that our Live Release Rate for 2017 averaged 88.3% (over 90% some months). Euthanasia has gone down considerably from decades past. Chris Frost: We provide subsidized euthanasia to pet owners and we euthanize animals as a last resort for behavior/medical problems. We shared the Live Release Rate because it's an industry standard that offers insight into euthanasia in light of a host of factors. Actual numbers vary based on intake. You're welcome to ask to talk with management to learn more. Every animal is evaluated individually. We have successfully adopted out blind animals, deaf animals, and seniors who have health and other challenges. Our goal is to save as many animals as possible. We are proud of our success placing special needs animals.
Hi Ronald, We cannot accept an injured wild rabbit. I would suggest Aark Wildlife Rehab 215-249-1938.
Hi Darren, I am very sorry to hear about your situation. I would recommend contacting our clinic manager to see how we can help. She can be reached at 215-622-0003.
Hi Grant, we would be happy to accept your donations of sheets, blankets, and towels. You are welcome to drop them off any time.
I believe it is free at this location on Saturday. I just like to ask people to remember a dog is a lifetime commitment
This changes on a daily basis, Claire. The know what animals are available for adoption you can watch the listing on our website or visit the shelter. Our cat/kitten population is lowest in mid- to late-winter. Spring through fall we typically have a full house in the cat rooms at both of our shelters. We adopted out 1,318 cats and kittens in 2017.
Hi Donna, All our available animals can be found on our website: https://buckscountyspca.org/pets/
Hi Michelle, I’m very sorry to hear about your home being damaged by the recent storms. I would recommend calling us at 215-794-7425 to see how we can help.
I have a question about Skye. This cat is so cute. But why she scare touch her.
Hi Gerard, Thank you for reaching out. We have a TNR program for feral cats in Bucks County that I think would benefit you. Please give us a call at 215-794-7425 to see how we can help.
Hi Sophia, I would recommend calling our shelter to see how we can help. Lahaska 215-794-7425, Quakertown 267-347-4674
Call them. I have no idea.
Hi Runa, Currently we do not have any guinea pigs up for adoption. I would recommend keeping an eye on our website, as we do get them in frequently: https://www.bcspca.org/meet-animals/
Hi Jeri! Currently (8/17/20) we are only accepting towels, sheets, and linens. We will be accepting more items as volunteers are able to return to our shelter. I would recommend calling to check in a week or so. Please call 215-794-7425.
Hi, I am sorry to hear your dog is not feeling well. We do not offer public vet services. I would recommend looking for low cost vet services in your area such as, the Bridge Clinic in the Newtown PetSmart or Animal Alliance in Lambertville.
Hi Amira! We ask for a $75 adoption donation for a kitten. All of our kittens are spayed/neutered, started on vaccines, and microchipped. You can view all of our available animals on our website: http://www.bcspca.org/meet-animals/
Post on social media a picture of your pet and how to contact you if found. If someone turns in your pet and it is chipped and linked to you they will be able to call the phone number linked to the chip. Good luck
Hi Coleen, we do not provide public vet services at the moment. Our medical team only offers low cost spay/neuter for cats.
I would go to the lost and found section of the website to report this! Www.bcspca.org
You probably won't get as quick an answer as you might be looking for by asking through maps, I recommend calling and asking. They have rats sometimes, if you call ahead they can tell you
Hi Sophia, you need to be at least 13 to volunteer with a parent.
Hi Carmen, The only public vet services we are offering right now is a low cost spay/neuter program for cats. We do not offer dental services. I would recommend calling local vets in your area.
You can volunteer, the age group is 13-16 so u fit right in!
I do not work for the spca but until recently records were kept in paper. Paper and electronic records all have a cost. The important thing is they saved those 6 puppies that you couldn't care for. Where they were cared for is much less important. To save those records would have cost the money used to care for others. For example a bankruptcy sticks around for 7 years but you are asking to burden a charity for nearly double that time. I dont question your desire to know but your request is unreasonable.
I would recommend Aark as well, they have a 24 hour drop of service. You can find their information at Aark.org
Hi Sean, We provide services for domestic pets such as dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and reptiles, and for livestock rescued from animal cruelty cases. We do not provide services for wildlife and generally refer people to Aark in New Britain for assistance with wildlife. Stop in or give us a call if you have a specific need or question.
Hi Robin, Some municipalities have dog wardens. Try checking with your municipality or local police for assistance. We can only conduct investigations into suspected animal cruelty. Good luck.
Hi Rick, We do spay and neuter all rabbits we have before adopting them out. However, we are not staffed to provide that service for publicly owned pets. Try contacting your local veterinarian for assistance. Good luck with Alfie!
Hi Alice, You may find it helpful to enroll you and your dog in an obedience class so that you get off to a good start together. We can't offer advice online. An experienced trainer working with you and your dog can advise you best.
Hi Alice, We recommend training that reinforces and rewards positive behaviors, not punishment. Contact your veterinarian for a referral to a trainer in your area so you and your puppy can get off to a great start together. Good luck!
Hi Melissa, We share your concern for animals displaced during disasters. The best support comes from groups that are in the same geographical region. We were able to take in dogs after the hurricane in Florida. Working across the US is a challenge for shelters and the animals. We reached out to Texas after their storms and floods, but were informed that other groups nearby were meeting the need. We'll continue to help out as we can on the East Coast. Individuals can certainly help by donating to national or regional groups working in the area of each disaster. Hope that helps!
Hi Jo Ann, We greatly appreciate donations of sheets and towels! Our Lahaska shelter is currently undergoing renovations (through late spring of 2017) which means we temporarily have reduced storage capacity. If possible, please deliver your donations to be our shelter in Quakertown (we can move them between our shelters as needed). If you can't make it to Quakertown, we can still manage small deliveries at Lahaska (a bag or two). For larger quantities, please hold off for now or consider another charity. Thanks for your consideration and for your understanding!
Hi Melissa, We have been unusually low on adoptable dogs since late last summer. Our transport program (bringing dogs in from overcrowded shelters) has been on pause for a few months due to construction work, the outbreak of canine influenza, and a significant number of animals that we're caring for that are held as part of cruelty investigations, our safe hold program, or animals needing extended medical care before being available for adoption. We have a large number of dogs in our care right now, but most are unavailable at this time for the reasons given. As dogs become available, they are adopted very quickly and aren't listed long. The good news is that we are gearing up to relaunch our transport program in February 2017. Renovations will wrap up in late spring, giving us back some of the kennel space that has been unavailable this fall and winter. We hope this helps you understand some of the challenges we've been facing. We're pleased that soon we'll have more dogs available!
Womens Humane center in Bensalem, Pa has a lot of dogs.
Hi Yasmin, We hope you found a way to help this cat by now. We aren't sure when your question was posted. If you're in Bucks County, you can bring in lost or stray cats and we will evaluate them to see if we can help. Please call or stop in if you still have questions. Thank you.
