Hi Alice, You may find it helpful to enroll you and your dog in an obedience class so that you get off to a good start together. We can't offer advice online. An experienced trainer working with you and your dog can advise you best.
Try punishing him EVERY TIME he does it, by confining him to his crate. Obedience classes would be good. They train the dog & the owner.
