Hi Melissa, We have been unusually low on adoptable dogs since late last summer. Our transport program (bringing dogs in from overcrowded shelters) has been on pause for a few months due to construction work, the outbreak of canine influenza, and a significant number of animals that we're caring for that are held as part of cruelty investigations, our safe hold program, or animals needing extended medical care before being available for adoption. We have a large number of dogs in our care right now, but most are unavailable at this time for the reasons given. As dogs become available, they are adopted very quickly and aren't listed long. The good news is that we are gearing up to relaunch our transport program in February 2017. Renovations will wrap up in late spring, giving us back some of the kennel space that has been unavailable this fall and winter. We hope this helps you understand some of the challenges we've been facing. We're pleased that soon we'll have more dogs available!
I am a volunteer there and every time I go in I see a dog getting adopted. There are so many people wanting dog it's very easy to get one in and the second it gets to the adoption floor it's in a home. I love that!
