We found a cat on the side of the road that was injured, we called them up and they were able to take her in and get inspected and make sure she was nice and healthy. After a single day, I already have the adoption photos up on their website ready to go. The inside of this place was populous and they had a wide selection of animals to choose from. You're going to adopt adopt from here

Hi Jenine, It appears that all of the kittens in the shelter have recently been adopted. You can check out foster Facebook page: Chesapeake Animal Services Foster Pets. Quite often the fosters will post kittens before they bring them back to the shelter for adoption. Best of luck! CAS

The only vaccination that is reported, to obtain a city license, is a rabies certificate. You will need to find out what vet your son used to obtain vaccine history.
Humane euthanasia is performed, as required by all state regulations.
Yes you can call them
We do have a rooster, a Muscovy duck and a dove:)

Hi David, We do charge an adoption fee. For dogs our regular fee is $105. We are holding an event next week, Homeless Animals Awareness Week (HAAW), and will have a discounted fee then. That will be the 9th-16th and the fee will be announced on our Facebook page and website!
We do accept volunteers and our next Volunteer Orientation is March 21st, 10am, at the shelter. There is more information on our website too including the online application and how to complete the required background check.
Hi Madison, If you could call our front office at 382-8081 they can get you scheduled for that. We had to temporarily close our small animal room, but should have it opened by the end of this week. There is a small waiting list, but only because we had to close the room.
Animal Services does take in reptiles, but currently we have some construction going on in our lobby and we cannot utilize our small animal adoption room. We are asking citizens to hold off on small animal surrenders until the room is open again. Please check with a local rescue group called Viper if you are in need of re-homing a snake sooner than we can assist.

What is the purpose of the question
Hi, l adopted a 5yr old beagle from VBAnimal Care and Adoption Center in Dec. I found out that Beagles and other dogs eat too fast and cause acid reflux that makes them cough. She was 13 lbs. Our vet prescribed half a Pepcid ac tab and half omeprazole tab which is pantrozole tab. She upset her stomach eating too fast. Chewy has a rubber sticky thing you put in a dog food dish to slow the animal down. This holds true for any dog and you can stop the cough as easy as this. If you have a vet, you can take the dog there. I spent over $3000 in medical bills for her but we had to put her down in Mar anyway bcuz we found a fast growing tumor on her spleen and she was bleeding internally. She had developed anemia. Kaopectate was given for diarrhea. Use these products when you need help for all this. It will help you save money. I wish you well. She slept and went to sleep peacefully.
I will have an officer check it out, but if it is angel wing we do not pick them up.
Animal Services does pick up injured wildlife. If you live in Chesapeake please call 382-6161. Press 2 when you hear the recording and a dispatcher will take your call. We do transport to rehabbers.
Hi Vicki! I am not sure where you are having this possum pop up on your property, but typically they are either seeking shelter, food or water. I have a yearly visitor under my deck and she always has her babies under there. Before I let my dogs outside I always turn the light on and open/close the door 2 times to give all the yard critters a chance to escape. Possum are very harmless though and if you eliminate the resource they are seeking then they will usually go away. The fact that it can get up the tree is a good sign that it is healthy. If you have a shed or deck that it may get under try throwing some moth balls under there. They don't like the smell of that. If you have any bird feeders that will also attract all wild animals too. She may be huge because she is pregnant or carrying her babies in her pouch right now...
Letthe landlord know first then call animal control
There are no birds for adoption at this time.
But there are like 8 feral cats there too she is hiding up in the insulation and she is scared
They're open Sundays from 12pm to 4pm.
Chesapeake Animal Services will if you live in Chesapeake.
