We recently adopted a sweet little dog from your facility. We were told he was vet checked and all he needed was a rabies shot and we were able to bring him home. Since we have had him home he has had a terrible hacking cough.Advise? Kennel Cough?

Hi, l adopted a 5yr old beagle from VBAnimal Care and Adoption Center in Dec. I found out that Beagles and other dogs eat too fast and cause acid reflux that makes them cough. She was 13 lbs. Our vet prescribed half a Pepcid ac tab and half omeprazole tab which is pantrozole tab. She upset her stomach eating too fast. Chewy has a rubber sticky thing you put in a dog food dish to slow the animal down. This holds true for any dog and you can stop the cough as easy as this. If you have a vet, you can take the dog there. I spent over $3000 in medical bills for her but we had to put her down in Mar anyway bcuz we found a fast growing tumor on her spleen and she was bleeding internally. She had developed anemia. Kaopectate was given for diarrhea. Use these products when you need help for all this. It will help you save money. I wish you well. She slept and went to sleep peacefully.

We do not actively have animals with kennel cough right now, but that is always a possibility. Were you able to have him seen by a vet yet?
