needed a small amount of grass seed, and new they had southern belle which I have been wanting to try for a couple of cleaned up spots around my lawn. I was so impressed with the rate of germination and appearance of the grass I went back and wanted some info on fertilizers and fungicides. they directed me to Steve, who looked pretty busy at the time, but took the time to answer all my questions and offered advise. Feels good to know you can get expert advice when you need it.

If you have lawn, irrigation, or lawn equipment needs, don't look any further than Horizon Distributors! I have been coming here for the past 6 years and have yet to be disappointed with the quality of any of my purchases! They are also the best place for Southern Belle Tall Fescue grass seeds too! I recently purchased a bag of the Southern Belle Hybrid to renovate my lawn this fall and it has come up nicely. I receive multiple compliments on my lawn and the quality of the grass seed. I also purchased a Pentair well pump from them for my irrigation system. Not only are their prices good but they also beat most competitors and even internet searches. My pump is very quiet and pumps enough water to cover 4 heads easily. My most recent purchase was an Echo 770T backpack blower. This thing has so much power it makes cleaning up leaves and debris from the road a breeze, literally! I was looking online and in big box stores for a blower and came back to my “Go To” store Horizon Distributors for the product. Most other competitors did not have the model I was looking for in stock. Not only that, but one big box store that sells Echo products had the smaller blower priced near the price of the bigger blower I purchased. The staff at the store is always helpful if you are in between products and need some information. I can not say enough about the professionalism and courtesy I encountered at this store. Come here “First” for all your Lawn Care needs!

Fall is the best time to seed fescue. Depending on the conditions of your lawn a spring seeding may be advisable. There are two major drawbacks to consider. First is water and disease. Germinating seed needs frequent watering, but watering more than once a week in spring is going to increase the chance that your lawn developes brown patch disease. You need to be ready to treat this disease should it become an issue. Second, fescue is not very heat tolerant. It struggles in tempatures over 85 degrees. Seeding in spring (especially this late) doesn't leave the seedlings much time to develop a root system before facing summer's heat. With those things in mind consider the density of your lawn. A very bare lawn is going to have more problems with soil erosion, weeds and heat stress besides just not looking good. If your lawn is very bare, go ahead and seed. Just know that you won't get as good a result as a fall (or even March) seeding. Also don't seed if you've used a crabgrass preventer
