Overall, it wasn't a bad stay. Downtown hotels during July were ridiculously expensive. This one was slightly less ridiculous, though still expensive at about $300 a night. Pros: 1. Conveniently located downtown. It's not near the Charleston market area but it is walkable (20 min or so). If you don't want to walk that far for dinner, you can go one block over to King Street, where there are lots of bars/restaurants 2. Charleston has free buses and a few of the stops are located right outside the hotel 3. They allowed a late check-in (2:30 AM since our flight got in late). I was afraid that no one would be manning the front desk but thankfully we were able to check in without issues 4. They lock the main doors after 9 or 10 pm so you will need a key card to get through, which gave us peace of mind 5. Water station in the lobby. This was nice especially since there aren't really any convenience stores nearby, so we would just fill out bottles before leaving and after coming back to the hotel 6. Mini fridge in the room Cons: 1. The lady checking us in hated her job. She didn't even greet us. When she gave me the key card, she literally just did that - didn't even tell me the room number or where the elevators were. Thankfully, that was the only time we had to deal with her. Everyone else we encountered was nice. 2. Ice machine on our floor was out of service 3. Rooms are a bit dated 4. Bed wasn't too comfy. My back definitely hurt more than it usually does after spending a few nights here

It is tough to rate this hotel. Andre and Kay were super friendly and hospitable. If it wasn’t for them we probably would have given this hotel a 1 or a 2. The biggest issue is that the guests are not able to control the AC in their rooms. The AC temp is set at 70 and that’s it, no control at all. It was hot and humid and the only option was to request a box fan. It took 2 days for them to get the box fan even though they kept saying “it should be up in 15 minutes”. As I mentioned they were super friendly the entire time but it seemed very disorganized, if you don’t have the fan just tell me, don’t say it will be up in 15 minutes. I do feel like the hotel needs to notify you that you can’t control the AC temp from the room. Smaller issues are mold in the shower, breakfast is $20!! The keys stopped working 2 days in a row too, easy fix but still inconvenient. The hotel needs a make over as the hallways gf dirty carpets and smelled. Positives were the location, easy water bottle refill station in lobby and polite staff.

Well-located right off King St and easily walkable to entertainment, restaurants, and shopping. The pool was nice to relax by and the gym was great for a light workout. Room and bathroom were a decent size and the hotel staff might have been the highlight of the entire place. The cleaning staff were highly attentive, the front desk members were professional and friendly, the bartender at the hotel bar was personable and attentive even when it got busy, and Mike and the rest of the valet crew were phenomenal in providing recommendations and excellent service.

We got the wrong room at first (used) but they fixed it right away and upgraded us to a suite. It has a tv in the bathroom mirror! Very comfortable room. Loved it. Everything was within walking distance, loved being in the historic district, the shops, houses and everything. Beautiful city. The breakfast was great. She was having a bit of a hard time keeping up, working alone, but she was friendly and I loved the food. It was a great stay.

I don't understand the question about medical rates. We were there in August and felt the rates were higher than they were worth for the accomodations. The property is at the far end of town. Very far for walking. There was a transit/ bus/ trolley service that was close and useful. The rooms are in need of some upgrades and better housekeeping. It was ok but would not stay there again.
