This place needs a total remodel. Pictures they used for the room I thought I was getting was not the same as the room I walked into. Room was dirty and smelled moldy and like smoke. Mattresses are literally falling apart. Bed wasn’t made all the way. Box springs are old stained and covered with fitted sheets that are full of holes. Severely outdated. Bathroom is very small and the exhaust fan sounded like it was about to fall out of the ceiling. We made reservations through Priceline. We did not stay here.

Santa Hale

Hidden upcharge of $100 for cleaning deposit, staff was rude after I pointed out the broken drawer and sink, telling us that we don't have to report every issue with the room. If you smoke they want you to stand near the overflowing dumpster with no cover during a thunderstorm. It's been a tradition to stay here for the 4th of July for years, no longer. The room rate doubled from last year. I don't expect perfection, but there is more permanent residents here than guests. No complimentary anything, two towel sets to a room booked for 3 people. If I paid $40 per night that would be fair, but for $120+ a night I do expect a bit more. Not to mention that they have no care for what the exterior looks like.

Positive: The staff were very pleasant, and the pool was well maintained. Negative: None of the lights worked upon check in, so we had to wait for staff to come change lightbulbs, and the free breakfast consisted of raisin bread (no toaster) and half a Tupperware container of fruit loops.

They charged $100 cleaning the room, they said it was people who trashed the room. Well we stayed one night 5/17. When we left our room to check out, the only thing our room needed was clean sheets and towels. My money was not returned as stated by staff, also when we got home our bank informed us of numerous attempts of hackers. Guests or staff I’m not sure, our bank has opened an investigation. I’m also going to file a complaint with the police and Charleston department of tourism. Stay at this place and you get a lot more than you bargained for, your bank account emptied
