Was traveling through Texas from Oklahoma and we were going to go to the Houston Botanic gardens but saw this one was free. My mom was sceptical about this place but it blew our minds. The place is absolutely beautiful and so grand in size. We just kept walking and there was more and more to see. I definitely recommend coming here to walk around, and even a great place to take pictures. Farther back is a pond with many benches and in the water was dozens on turtles, it was so neat to see the turtles swim up to you. Close enough to definitely touch. Very cool place. I haven't seen anything like this on this scale in Oklahoma before, so I definitely recommend coming.

The best Nature walk with local plants and flowers with a beautiful settings and ever expanding paths. Perfect place to spend truly memorable quality time with family members and loved ones. My personal favorite is the tranquility that I feel in the new addition with the large pond with wind chimes, turtles and fish and never ending bird songs. In the weekend afternoons you may have to maneuver through the photographers taking pictures of lovers, expecting mothers, quinceaneras and college graduates. But usually through out the week so much quieter.

This is a lovely botanic garden with everything from typical garden flowers to tropical and even some you might find in the desert. Everything is identified with small signs. On the day I went it had rained earlier so the plants all had misty droplets of water on them.

Mercer Botanic Gardens is a delight to visit. It is well kept and gorgeous. It has a wide variety of plants and flowers. And there is no fee to visit. Be prepared to take dozens of photos.

Yes, they have to be on leashed. But on the arboretum side only. Dogs aren't allowed in the gardens.
Call the hcp4 reservations number to find out
It does not allow balloons into the Arboretum, nor the Botanical Garden.
Spring is around the corner and it will be a great setting for any and many...
Yes, West side is open. The majority of photo shoots take place on the East side which does not re-open until March 17th
The garden side will be open to the public at 10 a.m. on March 17. This is also the date of their annual March Mart sale. Card carrying members of The Mercer Society will be allowed in the gates at 8 a.m. Admission to the park and parking are always free. If you have a wagon or cart bring it with you. It sure makes it easier to get your plants back to your car.
You mean paint in canvas or something in park? I would think so but I am not sure.
Yes it's free, but does have limited hours in the winter, I believe they extend in summer
They have a very giant plant sale a couple times a year. I also know that pre-covid there was a little shop that also sold plants. And I believe that it is still up and running, I'm just not 100% positive.
It's free
No parking fee or entrance fee. Photos you must go inside an read something before taking pictures professionally.
Very accessible! Mostly everything is pretty flat and there are designed parking spots next to entrance
That I'm not sure of
Anywhere except stepping in the flower beds
I don't see why not, breastfeeding isn't against the law. I think it would be beautiful!
Its free
Yes
Right now I believe they close at 5pm and open at 8am
If you're speaking about the best side that I indicated in my answer that would be the West side with the trails and the playground areas are. To get there if you're heading south on Aldine Westfield it will be to your right. Across the street to your left will be the east side where the botanical gardens and flowers are located
Seriously doubt it..
Not in the gardens, I don't think so but there are a few picnic areas, a pavilion, and a playground area with tables and benches next door in the Arboretum.
There are bench swings, but they are not close to each other, they are in random spots throughout the gardens.
Free....Just need to be willing to walk about 3 miles. Very BEAUTIFUL
Would say it is average amount birds, for wooded area. Being in the middle of a lot of roads, maybe this keeps bird population down
Yes, with their respective strap.
No. From their website: Mercer is open daily except for, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
Yes the garden is free, however, if you want to do a photoshoot for a wedding, or something like that. You have to get a permit from them to do so. Walk around and enjoy the beauty all you want though.
No
Yes, there were several there when I last went.
Entry is free of charge. The hours of operation are; March 19 – Sept. 30: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 1 – Nov. 4: 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 – March 18: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Free
March 15th and 16th
When I was there Saturday it was closed
Not in the actual garden but across the street where there is a trail and playground for kids yes
Yes
Dec8 there is a holiday themed event taking place. I'm not sure if it light or decorations or religious in nature
Only on the west side, the side with the walking trail. Not on the east side the side with all the flowers.
I believe it is 8am until 7:30pm but they try to get everyone out around 7ish.
Dawn to Dusk
Yes
Take a photographer ....
You can get permission from the park rangers. I had my reception on the west side last year. It was great!
Yes. However they are temporary in a small room inside the Mercer Arboretum since the building was damaged by the hurricane last year.
I have not seen dogs in the cultured part of the Botanical Garden. I have seen dogs on leash on the part that doesn't have the cultured flowers.
Mercer's Hours: March 19-Sept. 30: 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Oct. 1 - Nov. 4: 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Nov. 5-March 18: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
There are fees for professional photo shoots. Contact the park through the official website for more information.
Photo sessions are allowed but youvare requiref to check in with one of the staff. It is also a suggestion to donate something to the park if you are using the park for a session that someone is making money off of. Be aware that there are usually 4 or 5 photographers there so it is sort of like dancing a ballet, making sure everyone isnt in everyone's way. Bike trails may be available afross the street.
There are two sides of the park. in the gardens, no you cannot ride a bike Across the street in the park, yes you can
I would call and ask someone who works in the gardens to be 100% sure before planning something like this.
Yes you can. There are games for the children.
Until what hours is it open on these dates?
Better you go to the office I think are some restrictions
Yes every day so far
I did not see anything that would indicate they had classes.
Yes free, but no, everything is not recovered from Harvey. Many of the garden displays have been redone, but it will take a long while to re-design the entire park to be more floor resistant. They are trying to use funds wisely.
The price of any county park, including Mercer is always free. It is paid for with your tax dollars. Both sides of the park are now open. The front portion of the gardens is absolutely gorgeous. The azaleas and camellias are in full bloom. There is a sea of purple pansies planted in the beds going to the gazebo and a huge row of kale planted in the beds leading to the tree house offices. Best of all, the outdoor bathrooms
Keep in mind that you are just getting public opinion here. Keep trying to call and get an answer from a real employee. You can also call the precinct parks answer line.281 353 8100.
There are other local places to stay the night, just not at Mercer Botanic Gardens.
No yet
Partially at the end of March... On going and improving for a while... Hopefully will look cool nby spring
The picnic area on the west side of Aldine Westfield is open. The botanic gardens on the east side of Aldine Westfield is still closed temporarily due to Hurricane Harvey.
Commissioner will do a ribbon cut to reopen it on March 17.
They are open but the east side is closed for restoration from Hurricane Harvey.
Last I heard almost everything was washed away.. ??
