Very busy. Friendly and helpful staff. Free breakfast was awesome! Highly recommend, despite minor check-in delay due to high occupancy rate.

The staff is amazing, the room was very comfortable, and clean. I informed the front desk that it was my son's birthday and they got him a card. The entire staff signed it and included individual birthday wishes. I was amazed that they went out of their way to make my sons birthday special. It's clear that this team truly cares about customers and thrive on exceeding expectations. If you're looking for a comfortable location with great customers service, restaurants and shopping near by look not further.

We stayed for a week and in that time there were only a few concerns. First of all the mattress was a 8 out of 10. The top sheet is to small so if two people are in the same bed its a pain. The top comforter is heavy so it wants to slide off the bottom all night. And the pillows are to soft so ask for extra ones. The staff were great and friendly. The breakfast was good for the first few days but at the end of the week I was ready for something new. OK here is what we didn't like. The toilet has a pressure tank in it. So when you flush you feel like you're waking up people from across the street. In the shower they have a hand rail and the soap dish on the wall in the middle of the tub. Which puts them in the way if you're a larger person. And for most of the week the ac in the halls were out so it was always hot and humid. Oh and the pool was cold. They said it was 88 degrees but it felt like the 60's. So over all it was just ok. But for the price I'm sure we will look else where next time in town.

I stayed here in October 2021, and I'm still salty about this trip from six months ago. I had a terrible stay, and it was for factors entirely within the hotel's control. Specifically, this hotel took COVID-19 safety theater to the extreme, and tried too hard to micromanage its guests in the name of COVID-19, at a time when special COVID-19 rules were waning, and a hotel stay resembling the pre-COVID experience was once again expected. Right on the door was a big sign demanding that guests wear masks, despite no state or local mandate requiring it. The breakfast area had signs asking that people wear gloves and a mask in order to serve themselves. The breakfast attenadant also rudely demanded that we comply when we didn't follow their rules. Additionally, the swimming pool required that guests reserve a time in advance and limited the number of people in the area at a time. All of this was highly unacceptable. When I'm paying full price to be somewhere, I expect the full experience, and that means not micromanaging me and providing me with a bastardized service for my full price rate. While on this trip, I visited two cities and stayed in another Hampton Inn, which did not have all of this special safety theater. Therefore, it give me good reason to think that all of the micromanagement and other safety theater that I was subjected to was entirely the decision of the local management, and was not a directive from corporate. It tells me that corporate wants to offer a normal experience, but the local franchisee thought they knew better and doubled down on the safety theater when corporate didn't want it anymore. In any event, I will never stay in this hotel again. There are plenty of other hotels in Newport News, and clearly, they've chosen safety theater over their paying guests.

One cup, single serving brewer. Coffee in lobby 24-7 as well as hot water for teas.
2-3 miles. There is another Hampton Inn across the street from PH mall
By the pool. The rooms have regular shower tubs
Probably around 5k .. I would choose an extended stay hotel
