Great place to stop if your traveling along the Housatonic River Valley, didn't see them on this trip but the is at least one nesting pair of Bald Eagles

I showed up to Shepaug Eagle Viewing expecting to see no eagles. I was surprised to see so many eagles. I held out a pink salmon carcass in my hand for about 30 minutes and was astonished to see an eagle swoop down to investigate. It landed on my hand and stared at me. It was hands down one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. So exhilarating!

It doesn't open until dec 2020 I think. There may be a number you can call on the website. Shepaug dam/ eagle watching
Gate to the dam still closed. You can fish before the gate, but not behind it.

Its pretty even ground, but its all on a slope so going back to your car would be all uphill.
