Remarkably classy, sobering and affecting memorial that really drives home what an absolute waste of lives the Vietnam War was. As a Briton, I am forever grateful that Harold Wilson kept us out of the whole mess. Vietnam is still communist to this day and the thousands of names on this wall died for nothing. It was an ill-advised war of hubris which has stained America’s reputation around the world since.

A very somber but reflective memorial where all the brave men and women who have fought this country would find great joy knowing they did not die in vein. Wonderfully done.

A moving memorial to thousands who accepted the call for an unpopular war and gave their lives in the process. Regardless of the popularity of a war those who serve and sacrifice IMHO should always be respected and honored. They've done what many would not do.
Please download the VVMF Mobile Y
Tour app to find the names locations on the wall. They also have large books at the end of the wall that list names and their locations. You can access at the end of the walla closest to the Lincoln Memorial.
Is there information from any of his family? You'd probably have to go through one of the veterans organizations to do the research on his platoon and what action he was involved over the, ie operation

There is a John Frederick Ashman, but no Robert Ashman.
President Eisenhower is the simplest of answers of who was President. Under President Truman we were already funding France's invasion by at least a third.
Kennedy, Johnson and finally Nixon we're all presidents when we were fully involved in the Vietnam conflict.

I do not know who Charles Norman is and I did not take the time to read all 50,000 names but I recommend that you go, take a look and pay your respects to all of those who died.
I came across a Ronald Lee Holtzman August 24, 1967 from Virginia. But your best bet would be is look up the name here at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund website and go "Search the Wall of Faces" www.vvmf.org
Go onto the NPS website and there is another link there that will help you get what you are looking for... you just type in the name you are looking for and will tell you where on the wall it is located.

That is a very interesting point, if say you mean, agent orange finally taking it's toll? I wouldn't see why not. It might not be that hard to prove. Depends on the case. However, I think the wall is meant for the men who died during the war. But I imagine you could make your case.
There are eight Maddox names on the wall but none are first name George. All but one are after 1966. You can look up the name yourself at www.vvmf.org/wall-of-faces/. It will give you all names and dates and more information about the person.

Paul M. Haslinger was born on July 12, 1945 in Portland, OR. He's caucasian and his religion was Roman Catholic. He passed away when he was 20 years old from wound injuries in Quang Nam, South Vietnam. His body was recovered. He was in service for two years in total and he was in the Marine Corps-LCP-E3-Regular. That's all I know, the website I got the info was from the official Vietnam Wall website, thewall-usa.com/search.asp

On March 28, 2017, President Donald J. Trump signed the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017. This act officially recognizes March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The Act also includes the day among those days on which the US flag should especially be displayed.
Dear Robert:
I don't know all the issues surrounding your cousin's wounds and his death, but if he died as a result of wounds sustained in
vietnam, then he should probably be on the wall. Find out who your congressman is, then write to them explaining the situation. Then request your cousin's name be put on the wall. You can find your congressman on a smart phone or computer on the internet.
God bless you and your cousin.
