I’ve never been treated as badly as I was in the observation unit. The Doctor and nurse who saw me in observation were threatening and condescending. They also had agreed on a medication dose with me, on a benzodiazepine, I asked for a lesser dose but agreed to what was recommended. Then was greeted by the nurse with double the amount of medication than agreed too. I was too afraid to speak up after having been threatened while in a state of crisis so I took it. Was afraid if I said anything the Doctor would threaten me with noncompliance and file for title 36 since that seemed to be her agenda. This was not any sort of trauma informed care, this was desensitized and brutal. I got over the crisis that brought me in, but her treatment towards became a whole new crisis. I would never return here out of fear of interacting with this person again. I’ve never felt so manipulated, pressured, and lied to by healthcare professionals. I am a registered nurse struggling with ptsd, even that was used against me in a condescending manner by their RN.

the reason for the mixed reviews: this facility has an inpatient service, which is terrible beyond belief, and an outpatient service, which has been great and helpful for me. this specific area of the facility is the inpatient service, which is a completely dehumanizing experience. there aren't beds or rooms, just a large area with recliners that serve as your seat and bedding for your entire stay. it's noisy because of everyone being in the same room, the lights are bright, and there are two bathrooms and two showers to share, so you have to wait sometimes an hour or two for a shower. there are nurses and caretakers watching you from behind a glass panel, it makes you feel like you're a test subject being observed. i wasn't there long enough to comment on the quality of care or medication, which is good, because this place would make anyone worse after a short while. they discharged me quickly to do outpatient, which has been much better. the doctors and nurses are generally nice, but one (the blonde one, i think her name was kim?) was very hostile and berated me for seeking help.

I just went to complete an emergency petition and the person at the door was extremely rude. I explained that an older guy is laying on the side of the road out of touch with reality and hasn't moved for days. He told me that they won't go get him. I told him that it's the law and they have to and he stopped ✋️ talking to me altogether after that. He is one of many reasons why the mentally ill can't receive the help that they need. I'm not saying don't come here because if your having a crisis you need help but just don't expect to be treated appropriately.

Yes! Lobby is open 7a-7p.
Main number will get you transferred fo requests of medical records
If they are no longer a danger to them selves or danger to others they will be released to the cummunity, if not they continue to a higher level of care with the county (MIHS) at either the psych annex or desert vista.... if they seek volatility treatment the valley is their oyster and many private hospitals are options as well as out patient treatment
Me, i just got out today from there
Go to Banner Thunderbird they have a mental health facility. You can go through ER and you'll be safe and treated better then at UPC. Any place is better then UPC.
Wow sorry to hear that... For future reference. NOTHING IS FREE. And if anyone claims something is - or insinuates it is , always ask for it in writing and for it to be signed. Especially when it comes to Medical services. I hope everything has worked out in your favor.....If it has not, I would be reporting the staff member to the hospital and to the board that they are licensed under (if applicable).
No 5150 in Arizona. I work there. You cannot petition someone for not taking medications. If he is a danger to himself or someone else and you have a witness willing to sign a legal document to that fact, then you can petition him.
Go anyway. They can do an evaluation and prescribe. Southwest behavioral is also good.
Yes. You can go there 24/7 to fill out a petition
The lobby is open from 7am-7pm, there is an emergency entrance in the back that is open 24/7 365.
7 am - 7pm 7 days a week (excludes holidays) lobby hours Emergency entrance 24/7
Most likely if you call them and ask first would be my recommendation.

They will see anyone, including people without insurance. It is partially funded by the government. If you have Commercial insurance, like Blue Cross, Then go to Banner Thunderbird for a much better experience however if you’re on Medicare Medicaid or TRICARE This is a Great resource they can see you without an appointment every day between seven and seven and if you need more advanced care this is the starting point
No visitors on obs, only on the inpatient side
not true they can only give you 2 weeks worth
Shifts are 7a to 7 30 both am and overnight
Yes, they can in the lobby or the observation unit

Numerous clients take quetiapune for sleep to still racing thoughts, auditory hallucinations and mood disorders. NMS is a very rare occurrence.

Its free, paid by the state, you'll never pay
