Easy access to drop off shredded paper, plain paper, glass, boxes, plastic bags and more. Plus they have free bark mulch, which you have to shovel yourself.

I assume you mean leaf and no: yard waste is collected in the "Hard to Recycle" area, which is operated by a third party & requires a $5 entrance fee plus a fee per bin you fill with yard waste. I recommend taking your yard waste to Hagemans (fee is a bit less) or find someone who needs it for compost.
During the Special Collection Event on October 6, paper shredding/recycling services will be offered, with a fee of $5 per box (max 35 lbs per person) in addition to a $5 entry fee. Bulky plastics & mattress recycling will be offered as well. Learn more at: fcgov.com/trc
If like a drinking glass, no.

This is not a redemption center. If you want money for your aluminum cans you can take it to Argon Metal. There is no general redemption center for recyclables in the State otherwise.
No they do not. You have to take those to the dump.
No but Bath Greenhouse just N of here does. I just dropped a bunch!
We accept cash or card.
No we do not. Sometimes we have a event for stuff like that but not yet this year.
Hi - Propane cans are not accepted at the Timberline Recycling Center as it is considered hazardous waste. Propane cans can be taken to the Larimer County Household Hazardous Waste Facility on 5887 S. Taft Hill Road Fort Collins, CO 80526. Contact the location for canister disposal.
Thank you for your question! We have looked into that option before and are continuing to explore options to better monitor mulch on site. Mulch is also offered at the Gardens on Spring Creek, and we work with Forestry to try to keep the bins filled as much as possible.
Clothing and shoes are NOT accepted at the Timberline Recycling Center. Clothing and shoes in gently used condition can be brought to many local thrift stores, charities, and donation boxes for reuse. If the items are not reusable (i.e. are torn, stained, or in bad condition) they should be thrown away in the trash.
Hello! We cannot accept windows at the Timberline Recycling Center. You can find out regional options for donating or recycling windows at https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=139 and https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=79.
Hi! The Everyday Recyclables Side of the Center (open during daylight hours 7 days a week) accepts all the same plastics as are accepted in curbside recycling in Fort Collins - plastic bottles, plastic tubs and plastic jugs. There is also a special bin for plastic film recycling (plastic grocery bags, bubble wrap etc.). Some bulky rigid plastics are also accepted (plastic play equipment, large plastic buckets etc) are accepted on the Hard-to-Recycle Materials Yard (Open Tuesday - Saturday) for a $5 entry fee. Hi Kim, unfortunately if the chest of drawers is not in reusable condition it should be brought to the landfill for disposal. If it needs only slight repair then you could try posting it on Craigslist, Nextdoor, or Facebook Marketplace for others who many want it.
Hi! Galvanized fencing can be recycled as scrap metal at the Hard-to-Recycle Materials Yard at the Timberline Recycling Center. $5 entry fee applies. You can see a list of local locations accepting scrap metal at https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=30

Hi! We do not pay recyclers for the materials they drop off, as it is costly to process and recycle certain materials. However we do accept a wide variety of materials for free including glass, metal cans, and plastic bottles and jugs. You can learn more at fcgov.com/TRC
Clean cardboard can be recycled for free at the Timberline Recycling Center or at the Larimer County Recycling Center at the Landfill.
Hi! Electronic waste can be dropped off at the Timberline Recycling Center year round, for a fee. We don't currently have any free recycling days for electronics since proper recycling of the hazardous materials found in them can be expensive. However many other locations in Fort Collins accept electronic waste for recycling, sometimes free of charge. You can search locations at fcgov.com/A-Z.
Hi Deb! No need to bring proof of residence, we have visitors from a variety of communities, including some in WY! If you are going to visit the Hard-to-Recycle Section of the Center just be sure to bring payment as certain items have fees to recycle and there is a $5 entry fee for all items except batteries, paint, motor oil, antifreeze, cardboard, and plastic film.
Hi! The recycling center does offer free mulch supplied by our streets department, on a first come first serve basis. The Gardens on Spring Creek also offers free mulch.
The only materials accepted in the white paper bin at the Recycling Center is white office paper (printer paper), white envelopes, and white shredded paper. All other paper products, magazines newspapers, and colored paper should be be put in the mixed paper bin. All cardboard should be recycled in the corrugated cardboard bin.
Hi Lewis, rather than looking at the numbers focus on the shape of the containers. The only types of plastic that can be recycled in Fort Collins are plastic bottles, tubs, and jugs. These are hardly ever #7 plastics, which are blended plastics that are very difficult to recycle. You can learn more at https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=27
We do accept branches and lumber for a fee, however larger stumps can be taken to the Larimer County Green Waste Program at the Landfill. Learn more at https://www.larimer.org/solidwaste/greenwaste.

Hi! Tires can be recycled at the drop-off locations listed at https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=172. Most auto tire businesses accept used tires for a small disposal fee; contact specific stores for details. It is illegal in the state of Colorado to dispose of tires in the trash because they cause issues in landfills.
Hello! Stoves can be recycled as scrap metal in the Hard-to-Recycle Yard at the Timberline Recycling Center. The $5 entry fee applies, and the yard is open Tuesday - Saturday.

Unused roundup and other chemicals can be taken to the Larimer County Hazardous Waste Facility.
Unfortunately, there are currently no local recycling options for car seats. They should be thrown away in the trash or brought to the Loveland Recycling Center for disposal at the landfill. Since car seats have a limited lifespan they shouldn't be reused, resold, or donated.
Materials should be loaded into the bins. Brush, tree limbs and other yard waste should be brought to the Hard-to-Recycle section of the Recycling Center (open Tues - Sat). The attendants at the Gatehouse can direct you to the proper bins.
The primary way to know whether a plastic can be recycled curbside or at the drop-off center is by its shape (https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=27). Bottles, tubs, and jugs can be recycled curbside or at the Timberline Recycling Center. Bottles and jugs are generally labeled with a #1, #2 or #4; Tubs, generally for dairy-based foods, are labeled with a #5 in the chasing arrows symbol on the bottom of the container. In addition, plastic bags (https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=28) and bulky plastics (https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/atoz/items/?item=93) can be dropped off for recycling at the Timberline Recycling Center (but cannot be recycled curbside).
All of those items can be accepted in the Timberline Recycling Center Hard to Recycle Materials Yard and recycled as electronics. Fees will apply for some of the items so they can be safely recycled - you can see a full price list at https://www.fcgov.com/recycling/dropoff.php. The Hard to Recycle Yard is open Tuesday - Saturday from 8 am - 4:30 pm
Batteries of all types are accepted in the Hard-to-Recycle Yard at the Timberline Recycling Center (open Tuesday - Saturday; Winter hours (Nov - March) 8-4:30 pm; 8 am - 6 pm regular hours). Through a new program established this year, there is no fee to recycle batteries, along with paint, motor oil, and antifreeze.

Refrigerator water filters are not accepted, and should be thrown away.
Old Dish Network equipment (such as tuner boxes) can be recycled as small electronic at the Timberline Recycling Center Hard-to-Recycle Yard. The $5 gate fee to the yard applies.
Reusable cabinets may be donated (check visit the City's A-Z Listing for Building Supplies at fcgov.com/A-Z) or can be posted to online platforms (craigslist, nextdoor, etc.). Unpainted and untreated solid wood may be recycled at the Timberline Recycling Center in the Hard-to-Recycle Materials Yard. Since most cabinets are made from manufactured/treated wood, if they are not reusable, the only disposal option would be the landfill.
Cushioned mailers unfortunately cannot be recycled, and should not go into any of the bins at the Timberline Recycling Center or in your curbside recycling. The best option for them is reuse, and if that isn't an option they should go in the trash.
Hi Sue, you can absolutely bring an old grill to the Timberline Recycling Center Hard-to-Recycle Materials Yard and recycle it as scrap metal. The $5 entry fee applies.

Glass can be put in curbside recycling or dropped off to the Timberline Recycling Center. Glass put in curbside recycling and dropped off have the same end destination, and will be turned into new usable glass.
No, they have to go somewhere that will remove the freon. Larimer county landfill is probably closest.
Actually, the best option for beds is to recycle them through Springback Recycling here in Fort Collins. They'll take foam cushions too. Most thrift stores will not accept mattresses, especially for resale, because of the possibility of bed bugs and other lurking pathogens. If they do accept them, they're likely going to the landfill.
Most home improvement stores will take them for free. The Larimer County Landfill's Household Hazardous Waste Program also accepts them for free.
Darlene, if they are in decent enough shape you may be able to donate them to Thrift Rite or Goodwill :)
No.
Not for free. Call Colorado Iron and Metal in Fort Collins and see if you can drop it off there.
Not at this time. However, the Larimer County Landfill's Household Hazardous Waste has drop and swap program where you can pick up some paint for free!
They do not offer compensation for scrap metal.
Colorado Iron and Metal buys scrap metal.
Hagemans prices are less than at the Timberline recycling center to drop off yard waste. Or else you can sign up for yard waste removal via your waste hauler. Both those options cost money. A free alternative would be to put it in a compost pile in your yard or seek out neighbors or even local businesses/farms with compost bins who might need more organic material for their compost pile.
Spring Back Colorado takes box springs and mattresses. Located : 309 S Link Ln unit b, Fort Collins, CO 80524
The tubes, not the wrapping paper (non-recyclable)
No styrofoam of any kind is accepted here. If you have large amounts of styrofoam you can take it to the CHARM center in Boulder where they have a special condenser for styrofoam. It is too light to accept as-is for recycling otherwise.
They take rinsed clean glass bottles & jars (no rocks/dirt). Remove metal lids and recycle with other metals. ***NO pyrex, bakeware, ceramics, window glass, drink glasses, aquarium glass, mirrors, or light bulbs***
No, Sharp containers are not recyclable. Taken from Colorado government website: 1)Containers of sharps should be clearly labeled as "Sharps" or "Biohazard Waste." 2)Once filled, the container should be firmly sealed to prevent accidental tampering. 3)Store the sealed sharps container away from children and pets. 4)Place the sealed sharps container in your trash on the day it gets picked up or taken to the landfill.
