Moderate terrain hike with some of trail off limits with a detour. Roots and rocks can be slippery and path narrows at high point with no guard rail to prevent falls. Rocks near falls are slick.

Great experience. About 25 min hike to get to the falls. Total of an hr hike back and forth. It’s a moderate hike so you could def take your pet there.

You will feel the burn on this hike! 400 ft elevation to 600ft in about 8 min. So beautiful 😍 the path is full of rocks and tree roots making a great challenge. I took the bridges of the past first which was a good warm up. This should be on every ky hikers bucket list! Update: started wearing hiking boots that lace up and stabilize the ankles. Last time I hiked this trail my ankles were sore for days and I hike, consistently, 3-6 days a week. Very rough trail. Beautiful today lots of Yellow Corydalis at the tioga trail head.

Yes it is. It is very rocky in some areas. So be sure to know if your dogs paws can handle that kind of terrain. Have fun. :)
There's two trails, one you walk down a paved path, looks like a road, the other is near the parking area and goes into the woods (no clue where that one goes). The road goes down a bit past a church and a creepy fenced off brick building. The path is up a decently steep hill, but nothing crazy. You'll walk across some train tracks, and keep going up hill. Eventually you get to the falls! You can walk across the train bridge, but it is active. If you're on the tracks when the train comes just stand on the metal cat walk. It'll be really loud so I don't suggest taking children across. But I was up there when a train passed and it was perfectly fine. Just really loud. Obviously be safe! I suggest bringing bug spray as well. I'd say if you take your time probably last about 2-3 hours? Depends on how much you wanna look around. There's not to many places to eat other than fast food, but there's a cattlemans steak house in shepardsville. Maybe 30 minutes away?
It's a very easy walk. I'm excited to take my 3 year old if that helps any.
There is only a certain area below the falls that you have access to. There are signs up all over the place saying "no climbing the falls" and violators are subject to military charges. Do so at your own risk.
If you mean wheelchair accessible, I would say no. The trail is full of rocks, branches, roots, and you have to cross railroad tracks. It is currently quite muddy as well.
A little less than a mile each way for almost 2 miles total out and back.
Walk down the road. When you get to the end go left up the hill along the trail. Its pretty straight forward
Yes it is.
Should run pretty good most of the year.
There are picnic tables right in the parking lot. I was just there today.
Yeah not a good idea to. I have troubles with my kids wanting to. Look up leave no trace hiking. Leave What You Find Preserve the past: examine, but do not touch, cultural or historic structures and artifacts. Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them. Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species. Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.
