Worst customer service experience of any business of any type I have ever dealt with. Took over a year to get my item to auction with excuse after excuse. NO communication from the Sotheby's staff. I was always the one that had to reach out to them and find out what was going on. Even after the item sold, I had to seek out final payment after over a month. AND, the lady I dealt with primarily told me the item sold for 3K less than it actually did. So when I started digging I found out the real story. Asked to speak with managers several times, never got a call. Finally got payment but still never received formal documentation of the sale as requested. Call Cristie's or another similar service but DO NOT expect much from Sotheby's. Very disappointing.

Please update the timetables on Google and on your website. Supposed to be open but closed all week. Might as well not have a website then.

I tried to bid through my mobile 3 minutes before ending an auction and all by chance it asked me to re-enter my credentials (it was the first time didn't ask in previous attempts before approaching the closing of a time auction. When I managed to log in, the auction of the lot had expired and the system wrote "Hoops something went wrong we apologize for the inconvenience!!!" Never has happened to other serious auction houses Christies Bonhams etc Update Sotheby’s follow up on the issue complaint. They sent me the timeframe of login attempts auction progress etc. but it still does not change the fact that I didn’t manage to bid

A fine, honest auction establishment. Everything that you have Quality can be taken to Sothebys for auction. Keep up the good work.
Call them and ask. Fyi, answers are provided by the community, not the merchant.
No you have to setup an appointment with one of their staff. It's as easy as a phone call
You could also call them and ask what the procedure is for your specific item. Cuts down on unnecessary time. If it's not in their purvey, then ask them for a referral. Good luck!
No, they accept consignment for auction.
I would look online or call. It is a full service kind of place.
Can Google please Translate this into English. So rest of the people csb read the question
Suzanne ...I worked there and they recently had Asian Week something held yearly. I suggest you call them for more info regarding art pieces
Hi i have postage stamps one is a real stamp the other is real gold pressed out face of same stamp they are for sale all 72
how can i send a photo of my bronze urn
They do.
The basic commission starts at 25% and there's goes down as the amount of the sale increases. You can find a schedule posted on Saturdays website for all the details
Hello, I'm not working for gallerie and not expert in that question, send you message directly to the gallerie and I hope they will help you!
Pietro, this is not the best channel to contact Sotheby's. Go to their website.
And
You would need to directly contact the wonderful people working at Sotheby's. They are professional, experts and extremely caring for all those visiting or contacting this fine organization.
Yes they have to assess them before they do anything else.
By evaluation.
Sotheby's offers free auction estimates which would also give you more info. Download pics and complete their form online
7th floor sales
Hehehe don't be afraid to know the truth of the conosimiento where are those interested in the truth of the breastplate of the trial created by Moses I listen to them
Go to their website and look for Sell, you can ask for an estimate by submitting photos and info online
I know nothing. Ask Sotheby's
English please
go to their website and look for inquire about selling or appraising it. they are responsive
Take a photo of your furniture piece. Contact Sotheby's directly via phone or website and follow their instructions. Best of luck with your valuation.
This isn't the forum for this type of inquiry. I suggest you reach out to them directly via phone or website. Good luck!
Treasures from Chatsworth: The Exhibition will be on view at Sotheby’s New York galleries, located at 1334 York Avenue, from June 28-Sept. 18.
Contact Sotheby's directly by phone and ask them for a recommendations. Good luck.
You can bring it to Sotheby's and a specialist will help you out
This isn't the platform to ask this type of question. Check it on Amazon.com and Amazon.uk.com is your best bet!
Contact Sotheby's and Christie's directly. Best of luck!
It is always free entry
Or you can request an auction estimate on their website
As to value, Sotheby's have an online process for requesting a pre-sale estimate. You would need to tell them what you know, and provide a good photo. Go to the home page (shown on Maps)
This is not the platform for these types of questions. I suggest you contact your local bric-a-brac shop to get an evaluation. You could also call Sotheby's directly to see if they have a market for political memorabilia. Another option is to look on eBay.
This is the Google local platform, not Sotheby's. You need to contact them directly...go directly to their website or call.
I looked at the list of departments on their website but did not see any that would include antique radios. You can check this yourself, Maps has a link to their home page, look for a list that includes Departments.
For such a specific question, you will need to contact the source (Sotheby's) directly.
Put the Trunk in a Secondary Auction Haus, there are more privates there bidding 4 a trunk. They will appreciate the trunk more and put a piece of glass on top of it and make a coffee table.
Sotheby's, Christies, and Phillips all have an online process for requesting an auction estimate. At least one good photo is required, and any information about where/when/how obtained may be helpful.
Call Sothebys, because you don't want 2 go over 2, York Ave and get the run around. They'll be able over the phone if they are interested.
According to www.sothebys.com, there are only two online auctions that day.
You could call up Sotheby's and ask them how much an appraisal would cost and if there is a demand for your type of watch. 1956 is relatively modern by today's standards.
Yes
Unless these are antiques or works of Art, and worth a substantial sum, then Sotheby's isn't for you, try eBay.
There is no charge to examine the artwork
You want to find out who manages the area which is appropriate for the painting's style.
Not sure. Special exhibits are free.
Call them to get the correct Dept.
Check the website for specific information regarding auction timing & regular hours of operation.
What would you like to do? If you want an appraisal or would like to sell your sculpture, you should reach out to a specialist in sculpture or antiquities. Take photos and send them to Sotheby's and other auction houses.
You should take the watercolor into their office and ask to speak to a specialist. If you cannot make it into the city, the take a lot of detailed photographs and email them to Sotheby's.
Call them and ask for a specialist in Mack sculpture. Note: Answers here are public & provided by the community not connected with the establishment.
You should call to speak to a specialist with respect to items you are interested in auctioning. If the items do not fall within Sotheby’s perview, you should consider smaller auction houses
In order to obtain a very rough estimate, you will need to take several photographs of the item and submit them to a specialist. It you want a more precise estimate, you should make appointments at several auction houses and bring in your item. It could be worth $10, it could be worth $1000s.
From experience, providing pictures of an item may only be sufficient for them to determine that an in-person evaluation is needed. They would not even provide us a ballpark estimate based on pictures alone.
Yes, but. Check with a specialist in the items or items you want appraised to find if & when.
To be sure, call then & ask.
You should call them. You might try the oth er auction houses too
I don't work for Sotheby’s but I believe that they auction jewelry and stamps. They have a watch, fine jewels and magnificent jewels auction. You should go on line to see if your items are in line with those items. There are smaller auction houses which handle less valuable pieces. You can always utilize Craigslist or Ebay....
Not sure if Sotheby’s would be the appropriate agent for the sale of your pieces. They usual cover established artist opposed to less known artists. You can still call them and ask to speak to a specialist. Not sure if they will accept your pieces for their next auction though. You should look into galleries (internet) or renting an open gallery space to host your own viewing. You could also offer your pieces on Ebay or Craigslist, worst case scenario.
You should request to speak to a "specialist". You should also contact Christie's, Doyle, Phillips and other various auction houses. Each house specializes in specific areas. Worst case scenario, they will not be able to handle your item(s) but may be able to refer you to someone who will. You can also list on Craigslist or Ebay.
Best advice is to call them & ask.
