Went to the VA state police to get the police report. Was told to get it from DMV. It took an hour to get called. Now I've been waiting forever for VA State police to send it to dmv so she can print it off and give it to me. Makes zero sense.

Apparently someone dropped the ball between Va and Ga when I moved to Ga 4 years ago and my title never got sent to Ga even though my car had been registered since I moved. I drove all the way to Va to pick up my title for them to tell me that department is not open on Saturday’s. No where on the website or at it’s physical location is it listed that the Title Department is not open on Sat. I drove all the way here to get turned away without a title to my car and told I can wait 4-6 weeks which I don’t have to receive it in the mail or come back Monday. I am so tired of the work ethic since COVID. Businesses including the DMV need to understand that customers don’t like to be inconvenienced either. I would have never came to Va until Monday.

Seems the later in the afternoon you go, there is no line, less people waiting, and less waiting time! I was in and out in less than 30 mins to get new license plates without an appointment. The staff was more friendly and I walked in at 4:40pm

I needed to change my title from Florida to Virginia. I was told at my local DMV to mail the title and the application off to the DVM in Richmond. I did so on the 19th of Jan. and have not heard back from them on when I'm going to get my new title. I can't do anything until I get the title such as changing my Driver's Lis. , Tags, insr., etc. I got a call from them saying it would be 5 to 6 weeks. I got my CCL faster than that. If I get a ticket because it is sitting in my drive way with a dead tag, I'll be sure to tell the officer to send it to them as they are responsible. No sense in taking this long for a title. In Florida I had one within a week.

Yeah I dont understand the services the public services in the state it's like you cant get nothing done, hell in Texas they keep their word and are not lazy or complacent, but I guess it a screening issue. Sorry friend.
Why Have A Phone Number And You Can Never Get Through Online
Lots of calls
They have calmed down
No, but if you don't at least have Virginia ID then you need to provide proof of residency
You can go online if it's not expired or suspended to request a new one. You can also go into a DMV office to have it done. It will be $20 and it will be mailed to you.
The registation fees goes by the weight of your vehicle. Normal price for registration varies from $40.75 to $65.75
Yes
Call DMV ..good luck getting a human
No the hard copy will be sent in the mail from 7 to 10 business days. You will get a paper saying that you your licence will be mailed. I hope this info helps. Have Good day!
Claudia Desir if it's a NY learner's permit you will need to get a VA drivers manual from the DMV, study it and take the VA permit test, if it's a NY drivers license you just need to bring your proof of VA residency and proof transfer it.
No. Due to COVID-19, it's by appointment only
Unfortunately there's nothing u can do. U can try a different DMV and see if u can get an earlier date. Due to the fact that u can't talk to a human it makes things a bit difficult.
If the plates are not transferred to another owner than you can take them to any DMV.
DMV on West Broad Street.
DMV will be closed for the 4th of July holiday and will reopen on Saturday the 6th from 8 to 12 noon.
I don't think that applies to you.Got get a job & make some effort to pay that child support before you get a license, bro.
It's better to go in or use dmvnow.com
Go into the dmv
You can do both. If you mail it in, aspect a wait time of 3 to 6 weeks.
Everything is under control 🇺🇸🇸🇻🇭🇳🇳🇮🇬🇹🇺🇳💙❤️🖐️✊👍✔️🏳️🚮🚯⚠️
I been trying to get thru also and now my licence suspended because of it and still can't get thru
It doesn't look like there is any way to obtain an ID the same day. I would visit the DMV and discuss in person.
Go to dmvnow.com
$9 in person or $8 online
Hey @swati Nawthalwe did you get your license?
No. You will have to take the test again.
Yes
No. You will have to take care of all fines with the courts before getting a license.
No. You can drop your license down to a regular license, and as long as you get your physical updated within 6 months of dropping your CDL you can add it back without re-testing.
Got to DMV customer service center located near you..headquarters receive all information..make sure you fill out a sync address change from. Post office does not forward DMV mail
You have to have an appointment to get a DL ... you cant just walk in anymore. BUT ... if you call instead of make an on-line appointment, you can get an appointment much sooner.
They will send an email reminder. When they do you have the option of canceling it. Or go to original appointment email and look for option there.
A friend of mine did it recently and it took three (3) weeks.
To make an appointment you go here: https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/general/#appointments.asp For information about the about obtaining ID: https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/#id/adult_id.asp
There is no way around it, You have to make an appointment.
I don't know cause I'm having problems also.
Yes. However appointments are required and made on DMV website
No! Their customer service phone # is down since the pandemic. You have to schedule an appt or do it online... next appt is in feb in the 20s... and its Mid Dec... hope you dont have a deadline or court order cause they dont care!
They should, no harm to take with yourself in appt
Yes
Yeah, i went on appointment and took almost 2 month to get that. I would suggest doing dmv select if there is a next time.
Been slow, regular license plates took 2 months, so i can imagine it takes just as long
Yes. Everything needs an appointment or you won't get past the front desk, but maybe they'll let it slide 🤷🏾♀️
Everything needs an appointment that requires verification unfortunately.
It's open, but by appointment only
Keith, I'm the one who posted this question. My wife died this past December and the last week of September the DMV sent me a notice that before my registration expired in October I couldn't renew it without changing the title to my name although I'm the primary owner. No appointments were available until December so my only option was to mail it in. Of course, its taking forever and a day and all I have is the notice letter the DMV sent me to show any police officer. This is a typical Catch-22 and salt rubbed into reopened old wounds!
Make an appointment, and i would recommend dmv select as they are quicker and easier to get an appointment.
They only allow appointments up to 2 months, and it gets booked up quick. Most places have extended to 60 days after license expiration due to covid.
You might have to check around for a slot at another DMV in a different city.
I dont know. I dont work for DMV. Isn't it on their web site?
Try another location like west or east Henrico locations
Quit asking DMV questions on google maps.
Not as far as I know. I think its by appointment. Best to call them and find out.
I dont have answers about how the DMV conducts business.
They are open by appt
You have to make an appointment to be seen...my appt was @ 830, but I was out within the half hour.
Hi Crystal! The best opportunity is to schedule an appointment online at (https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/onlineservices/appointments.aspx) Once you click the link, select a "service type" and then select which office you'd like to visit from the menu to the right. On the next page, you'll be prompted to select a specific service and make an appointment for a specific date and time. Check the website frequently due to appointment slots filling up fast!
They email a reminder.
Appointment only
They have a couple of customer service reps sitting outside and they was very helpful for me without an appointment...good luck!!
I would recommend calling the 1.800.877.0133 # their hours of operation are M,Tu,Th &Fr. 8AM-5PM Wed 9AM-5PM. Also out front at the Richmond Central Customer service center, 2300 W. Broad St. Richmond, Va they have a table with three employees stationed signing people in. It may be worth a shot to go up there and see if they will assist you. Good luck!
It takes more than 7 to 14 business days. I sent my title renewal papers out on September 10 and still have heard nothing. There's no reason it should take this long and this just opened up old wounds since I have to get my title issued to me because my wife died this past December. I can't renew my registration without it!
I believe you will have to make an appointment at one of their Customer Service Centers.
They have parking, you don't park on the street. And it's free
Go to dmvnow.com for all your info you will need and make a appointment
Till 6pm
There is also a process to do somethings by mail. Check out their website
When I was there they seem to, but it's not official. Maybe go and check.
51,75 if I'm not mistaken
They are giving people a 30 - to 90 day window, but call DMV to make sure, and you have to make your appointment on line only!
Yes
No there not at this time
Take the written test its alot easier....you over 18 so I good

Easy Fix! You need to give DMV your new address when you move
Call by
You'll have to contact dmv. This is a public question and answer forum
Walk-in
Birth certificate or Social Security card
That depends on when the dealer mailed in the paperwork. The estimated time is 3 to 6 weeks.
Yes. Only if you were born in the state of Virginia. If you were born out of state, they will contact the state where you were born and it will be mailed to you.
Dmvnow.com or the local branch
You can search for VA DMV license reinstatement. Depending of the severity of your violations, you might need a lawyer to help.
Yes
You would have to call the number listed and find out.
Social security card or birth certificate
Yes
The DMV office gave my Mom a hard time when my Father passed away. The car was listed in both names plus and or survivor. The lady kept pressing my Mom for his will. Imagine her surprise when one of the higher ups happened to be a friend of ours and made an appearance to this lady at the DMV and told her she was not entitled to see my Father's will and she would immediately renew the tags because the car was in BOTH names and said survivor! After 4 trips, she got her tags. It would be best in this case to seek legal help.
They always have a high call volume, and recommend doing most transactions online. You would probably get through at 8am when they open and before 12.
Registration Replacement Fees In Virginia The fee for a replacement registration card is $2 if you apply in person or through the mail. However, replacement registration cards are free if you use your MyDMV account online. The fee for replacement license plates is $10. The fee for replacement license plate stickers is $1. In Virginia, as in all states, you must have a valid and legible registration card, license plates, and a license plate sticker to drive on the roads. If yours are damaged, lost, or stolen you must replace them as soon as possible. It is illegal to drive without proper documentation of registration and can result in a steep fine
you are saying that you passed the test
Yes, you can submit the request online.
It depends on how much you paid for your car.
Yes
Drop the tags off at the DMV when you come back
If you are from out-of-state and posses a valid driver's license, DMV may exchange your out-of-state driver's license for a Virginia driver's license if you meet the identity, legal presence, residency, and social security requirements and Virginia's driver education requirements, if applicable
Well unfortunately that's the only customer service number. If you don't mind me asking, what are trying to do? I might can direct you to the right department.
Yes
You can get Real ID at DMV but I don't know about TSA. https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/general/#/drivers/real_id.asp
Commercial driver's license fees are based on how long your license will be valid (refer to the DMV Fee Chart for details). A standard CDL with no endorsements costs $64.00 and is valid for 8 years. Endorsement(s) cost an additional $1.00 per year. A commercial learner's permit (CIP) costs $3.00.
I do not work there three forms of ID proof of residency bill something from a school if u have children birth certificates
It can be up to 15 business days, but probably less .
Yes, that's true. See this for more information: https://www.roanoke.com/news/virginia/virginia-plans-to-end-driver-s-license-suspensions-for-court/article_2ac97c05-8cce-50ca-9f73-9063441fab64.html
It's $32 for the license and $10 for the real ID fee, for a total of $42.
Does ut really take 15 days
Yes. See here: https://www.courthousenews.com/drivers-licenses-4/
If you are applying for an ID card and do not hold a valid Virginia driver's license, you must present documents proving your identification, residency, and Social Security number, if you have been issued one. You may also be required to present proof of legal presence. You can find out which documents that DMV will accept as proof of identity, legal presence, and Virginia residency can be found by either: Using the interactive Document Guide. Reviewing Acceptable Documents for Obtaining a Driver's License or ID Card (DMV 141)
The nearest is probably Quirk, 4-star, about 1-1/2 miles east on Broad, around $150+. HI Hostel, about two miles east, around $51+. Both walkable, both near city bus stops. Plenty of others downtown, all more expensive.
Go to www.dmvnow.com. it can answer many questions and has the forms.
2$ assuming the tags aren't expired.
It is open very busy time of year be persistent
Error
You can pay reinstatement but u still have to get you license back and pay off whatever fees and fines that is owed before you get your license back
No
Did you get a real ID? If not, you'll need to use a passport to board domestic and international flights starting in 2020. Or you can get a real ID before 2020.
Why is the phone always busy? Can never commute with anyone.
Also it's 5 dollars
You have to go to the facility.
Once you establish residency in the state, you will have 30 days to complete your vehicle registration and titlingwith the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
In order to add someone to the vehicle registration you have to have added them to the car title. In order to add someone to the title would you have to sign the title over with you as the seller and yourself and the person you would like to add as the buyer (you would need the other persons signature). This is assuming there's no lien on the car (you are not making payments on the car) and you have the title. If in fact there is a lien on the car or you've simply lost the title you'll need the "Transfer title with lien" and "Replacement title" forms respectively.
If you are 18 years of age or older and you have never held a license issued by any state, U.S. territory or foreign country, you must hold a learner's permit for at least 60 days or show completion of a state-approved driver education program before you can apply for a driver's license. If you are under age 18, you must hold a learner's permit at least 9 months and provide proof of successful completion of a state-approved driver education program before you can receive a driver's license. In addition, your parent, guardian or foster parent must provide his or her driver's license or state-issued identification card number and certify that you received at least 45 hours of driver practice, 15 of which must have been completed after sunset. Your parent's or legal guardian's signature on the certificate certifies that the statements made and the information submitted on the certificate are true and correct. Certifying false statements can result in prosecution.
You can obtain a birth certificate here but not a SS card. You need to go to the social security office for your SS card.
To apply for a handicap parking permit, you will need: A completed Disabled Parking Placard or License Plates Application (Form MED 10). Medical certification provided ON the application form by a: Physician. Physician's assistant. ... Payment for fees: Placards: $5, paid by check or money order made out to “DMV."
If it's not expired then no.
The main office at 2300 West Broad in Richmond is open Saturday mornings. My experience has been that the line is short and moves rapidly. Considering the very efficient staff there, you should be in and out in 30 minutes or less.
They never answer the phone. Most all information can be found on their website. If you need to speak with someone, you probably need to visit in person.

It all depends on how much you paid for it, what the weight of it is, and what type of plates you want. If you paid under $1500 the sales tax is going to be $75, plus a $10 title fee, plus plates. Permanent plates can be anywhere from $55-$100. Leaning more towards the higher end. If you paid over $1500 for it you will pay 4.15% of the sale price, plus the $10 title fee, and the plates.
Yes, if they can locate the record. "Eligible customers will leave DMV with the requested document in hand. If a vital record cannot be found or cannot be printed at DMV, DMV will immediately forward the customer's application to the Virginia Department of Health, Division of Vital Records (VDH) for further research. If available, VDH will mail the certificate(s) to the address on the application."
No, you do not. Not sure where Christopher Winkler is getting his information. But you do not need a license to register a car. You do however need an Virginia ID card OR you must provide proof of VA residency. You will want to look on DMV's website to see what they accept the proof of residency as this is something that can change.
7-10 businesses days
Online or in a DMV office. It's $10 for an ID and $20 for a license as long as it is not near expiration.
If she has everything that DMV will need, yes, she can do it on your behalf.
Just go with the title and the registration, plate and tags will be provided.
No
There is a form that you, along with any siblings, must fill out. The form is used so that all legal heirs to the property can sign it over to you.
Do combination written test to get class A permit, then do class A road skills
Yes, you can renew if there is less than a year left until your driver's license expires.
You will need the NY title filled out correctly and a bill of sale. The easiest way to have this done is to go into a DMV office. However; it can be mailed in but you will need to send a check or money order for the exact amount.
You are allowed 1 renewal before you have to test again
No, renewed, id mailed
They mail it
You need either a birth certificate or passport, and two proofs of residency one of which could be your License if they live with you.
What do i need to put plates on a car so it won't get tow
Yes but you will also need something to prove you live in Virginia. A bill that has been mailed to your address will do it.
Yes, unless you've passed an government approved drivers class along with the road test. You can skip over taking the test and the road test with dmv and just get your license.
Yes.
Same as with any other title. They will sign the sellers section, you sign the buyers section and then take the title to a Virginia DMV office.
Without the other owner of the vehicle signing the form there is nothing that DMV can do. Going into a office will just be a waste of your time. If the co-owner is refusing to sign the title it then becomes a civil matter.
The purchase date is NOT on Virginia titles. The date on the top of the title is the date that the title was printed, not the date of purchase. If you go into a DMV or call they will be able to give you the purchase date. Additionally if it was purchased at a dealership they should have that information as well.
You will need to contact the VA department of elections. DMV does not keep those records.
Your birth certificate and social security card
Each location and department has a different fax number. You would need to know which department.
