This is by far my favorite Food Lion in Newport News, and I have tried MANY! The produce is always so fresh, along with the bouquets of flowers. The staff is continually stocking shelves with the freshest products which is what keeps me coming back. However, customer service at the registers could be better. Today, I shopped and was checked out by cashier Essence. She was extremely rude and dismissive. She didn’t acknowledge the fact that a customer was in front of her, no greeting of any kind. I explained to her where the previous customer’s order ended, and where mine began. She completely ignored me. Then she bagged my groceries and was carelessly tossing them aside. I would certainly recommend more customer service training for this employee if she’s going to continue to serve the public. She didn’t have on a name tag so I asked for her name, which made her even more rude with a major attitude. Food Lion can do better than this.
