Hands down the best motorcycle training program 🙌 the instructors are nice and really patient 👌. I'll be taking their advanced riders training next.

Took this course having only ridden once and felt like I learned so much. The in-person instructors Nemo and Karima were great to work with, and it was awesome to have women lead a motorcycle class. They learned my name quickly and were able to give individual feedback on the exercises. The instructors for the zoom portion of the class were knowledgable and good with questions as well. I will note that when I signed up, it was done through the Harley Davidson of Glendale, so the class was on Harleys instead of the Kawasaki Eliminators mentioned on the website. There were 500cc, and a bit big to handle as a petite woman, but they were low to the ground so that was nice. I would take this course a second time just to finesse skills. Highly recommend it!

I usually am really not one to write a negative review, but I felt I needed to for this company. The classes seem to be okay at first, but then you start to realize the instructors DO NOT care. The instructors just seem to be very indifferent. If you are going to take this course, I highly recommend considering another company. The testing portion of the riding is not fair whatsoever. I asked for the criteria of each test before taking it and was told NO, as it would make us focus on points too much. Well that ended up causing some of us to fail as we didn’t even know how we were scored. I’ve never had to take any sort of test without clear instructions as to how it was going to be scored. When I asked about these issues, they just said we don’t change score no matter what. So basically saying they are perfect and make no mistakes. Which I beg to differ. Do not bother trying to appeal or complain, they WON’T care. I tried to ask questions during the test and was ignored as well. They falsely ensured us that we were all great and should all pass, when it was clear many students were not ready. Instructors do not seem to care about your readiness or safety first. When I took the test the second time, they gave WAY more instruction, meaning they clearly lie about not being able to give out information. Also when I took the second test, they almost did not let take it as they said I was just on “standby.” I only got lucky by getting another spot. You cannot trust a thing these people say. I don’t know if other courses are like this, but at least I know I will not be recommending anyone I know to this course. If you are taking a Mtc course, make sure before the test you ask for clear and specific instructions. Do not let them ignore you. Also, don’t try to challenge yourself at all, just do the bare minimum to pass, as that what AMO values. If you’re going to go with AMO, be very very careful about the test. Don’t let them screw you over. It’s $350 of your money and many hours of your time. Which they don’t care about. So make sure you pass. Or just do the smart thing and go with another course and thank me later. Again, I never write negative reviews unless it’s really bad, but that’s how I honestly feel with my experience with AMO.

Very happy to get this instruction before I ever got on a motorcycle, safety and confidence can't say enough about this course has been amazing a bit fast for the beginner with zero experience but it is a great start to having to learn the wrong way.

Successful completion of the CHP CMSP MTC offered by AMOSocal will earn the student a DL389 skills test waiver. The CA DMV will also require a written test. Successful completion of the CMSP MTC includes a passing score on a skill evaluation conducted on range, and a passing score on a knowledge test administered in classroom. Best of luck in your journey for M1-endorsement, and dont stop taking classes or stop training after this first basic clas.
How much is the lessons
At this time, AMO does not provide support in any other language than English. Please redirect your question in English so we may help you. AMO, nor any of its affiliates, take any responsibility for the answer in Spanish to this question.
Fri 6-830pm Friday classroom night.6:30am to noon sat on road (course) 1-4pm classroom. Sun 6:30 am to noon on road (course). You still have to take the written test at DMV. Go online and Google DMV motorcycle test practice prior to going to help you out. You could do this either before or after attending the motorcycle class. On Sunday at the end of class you'll take a test on the motorcycle on their course. If you pass it you do not have to take the behind-the-wheel test at DMV. Many people do not take I motorcycle course.you can just take the test there at DMV you're allowed to miss three times then you have to start their process all over again.
The minimum age is 15.5 year's old with a parent or guardian approval. The parent or guardian would need to sign a waiver on the first day of class.
Thanks David. To clarify you will receive a DL 389 which wave the hands on test. You will need to take a written test with AMO and the DMV. Once successful with all 3 exams you receive your M1.
Not for the basic riding course,, If you're taking the intermediate riding class, you need to bring your own bike.
As a new rider the MTC is 2 days. About 3 hours classroom then 5 hours on the bikes each day. If you know how to ride then the 1 day premier course takes a day but you need to qualify to be eligible.
Please ask your question in English so we can help you. We only provide training in English. Thank you.
Appointment only. Must schedule on their website.
All classes are only in English. We have Spanish written material for review, but the classes and riding are all done only in English.
Jesus, it is $258 for a rider over 21, $180 if under 21. We encourage you to go to the link below and review all the Q&A we provide; most questions riders would not know to ask. Great that you are getting trained before riding. See you out there. https://www.amosocal.com/faq
Yes. They provide a 125cc motorcycle cruiser and teach you exactly how to operate and ride the bike. Friction zone, rolling off the clutch, taking off in 1st gear and shifting to second and third. It's about 9 hours in a class and 11 hours on the range. The range is hands on riding experience with a motorcycle. Super fun
The CHP permits failing either the written or skills evaluation one time. On a retake (within 60 days) if one fails the second time, the CHP requires that person to start all over from the beginning and retake the whole course with a whole new fee paid.
All classes are only in English.
Elsa, we offer scooter training only at our ALTADENA site. However, if you think you may ever ride a motorcycle, learn on the Kawi Eliminator 125 cc (easy to ride). Otherwise, when you sign up at ALTADENA, select scooter to reserve the scooter for the available dates that are open.
For the basic rider course they provide you with motorcycles.
You only need a parent's permission if you are under 18, so if your 18 you do not need a parents permission. You do need to be able to balance/ride a bicycle and have a valid government ID.
Hi Beydon, The DMV will still require that you take a written test for both motorcycle and car if its been over 6 months or a year (can't remember the exact time) since you last renewed your license. Either way though you will need to take the written test. Once the written has been passed and you have your certificate from the class (7-10 business days after you pass) you can get your new license with M1. Hope this helps and best of luck!
$258 and yes
If you already know how to balance a 2 wheels bike, and physically fit, u should learn basics of motorcycle in those 2 days. It'll take lot more practice before you can actually hit the road all by yourself
Nah, they have a pretty good assortment. Earlier you show up the better, then you can get one that fits right.
Under 21 is required by CA law to take the course so the fee is reduced for them.
Yes you can. There are two evaluations, 1 written and 1 riding. Both evaluations can be taken a second time if the first result is a fail. After a second fail, regardless of the outcome with the other test, the entire course must then be retaken.
Depends, but not usually recommended. We utilize 125cc Kawasaki Eliminators which are perfect beginner/introductory motorcycles. We also teach in a residential area where noise restrictions are enforced.
The test is available in Spanish. Range instruction, however, is in english. Classroom is also conducted in english. Spanish versions of the material are available.
No driving test, but you still need to take DMV written test. If you are registered, you can jump in if someone doesn't show; however, register first.
This CHP CMSP MTC course at Academy of Motorcycle Operation is designed for those with no experience at all. Many people successfully take the class with a wide range of skills from returning riders to people who have never driven manual. The answer is yes.
