Fantastic beach location! There are little to no waves, a long, wide sandy beach perfect for kids to play in. Be forewarned if camping at Miwok Campground, however, this place is VERY windy! We tent camped for four days, three nights with 40 kids in wind no less than 25 mph the majority of the time. One morning we had a bit of a break but it ramped up again in the afternoon. Gusts were close to 50 mph on our last night which made it near impossible to sleep. If there are gale force wind warnings, I recommend staying in a hotel and playing at the beach there. The dune did provide a bit of a wind break so the beach was the best place to be. Our neighbors' tent broke a pole within 3 hours of setup. We lucked out all our tents survived!

Beautiful beach camping. Be prepared for any type of weather since it is the coast. Easily access to the water, kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming. Lots of wildlife. It is a bit hard to get reservations due to the popularity of it but make your reservations early if you can. Short drive to explore the town of Bodega Bay and all of the great shops and eateries.

We’ve been going to Doran for over 50 years and it’s just wonderful in the Spring and Fall, beautiful in the winter depending on weather systems. Sonoma County’s improved constantly over the years and it just keeps getting better!

A great place to camp in an RV or Tesla. The bathrooms and beach are well kept. The prices are fine and the reservation system is ok. Not too far of a drive from restaurants if you want but still doesn't feel like a commercialized park.

I believe it's up to 8 people to a site so I don't think they have a limit on the tents probably what u could fit
As long as you don't mind really cold Northern California waters!
Get the county parks pass its $65 that gets you in all of the county parks and 1 free night of camping. That last 1 year.
Sure.
Tents are welcome but it is northern California coastline with fog at night. It gets chilly at night.
NO. There are no sites with Electric, water or dump. This is Dry Camping only. There is a place to dump after your stay and I believe there is a fee to dump.
No hook ups at Doran Beach Sonoma County Campgrounds. It's our favorite place to be on the ocean.
I believe it was $7.00. Not sure about fishing.
at "day use" there are picnic tables and a bbq for charcoal.
I have never seen an overnight boat parking All boats share the campsite they are register in
Dogs are allowed. Camping is only allowed in designated sites. None are on the beach. I would suggest just up the coast at Wright's Beach Campground.
Makes sense that they'd attach a fee to make that accommodation.
Westside has a better launch, but yes you can launch there.
The campsites are not ON the beach, but are just right next to it in some cases. Other sites are across the park access road from the beach. The campsites are pretty small and very close together here.
It worked poorly at best except in the middle of the night. Don't count on it.
We camped last weekend with no problems. I can't see how Laura would affect the west coast, but call them if you're concerned. Gas BBQ is fine.
Salmon, rock cod, and sea bass primarily. Albacore tuna for those boats that want to go way out.
Yes to both your questions I went there two weeks ago
Dogs ARE allowed. I bring mine weekly. There is a small off leash area near the boat launch but it is underwater at high tide.
They no overnights camping at this time.
No one ever asked what county we came from as info
I believe all the state parks in sonoma county cost $7 for a day pass. I recommend a year pass that is around $60.
They must be leashed at all times. Dillon's beach is off leash though
Yes you are right
No piers, only a jetty made of large boulders. Very good crab fishing here with crab snares and crab nets.
I bet they have a spot or 2
There is one area of the Doran Park where dogs are allowed off leash. There is a beach on the harbor side, starting behind the ranger station, and running parallel to the road all the way down to the jetty day use area. The majority of this area is inaccessible during high tide, except for a small cove you access near the fish cleaning station, but at low tide a nice long and wide area opens up just past the boat launch, where they can run, play in the water, etc, as long as they're not disturbing any wildlife you're good to go. Everywhere else, dogs need to be on leash while camping or visiting for day use. Some campers bring pens/dog runs they set up, that's fine as well, just please be aware you are not allowed to leave your animals unattended, even in a camping trailer or RV.
The sites are $35 a night during the peak season, $32 a night for the off season, minus $2 if you're a Sonoma County resident. Tow vehicle is covered in fee, additional vehicles are $7 a vehicle per night, dogs are $2 a dog per night, and if you're using the dump station there's a $7 charge.

This is true. Closes at sunset. Must have permit to camp.
