Karen pulls a "Karen". My mother in law has been staying at this and other hotels in BB for the last 30 years as it is a family tradition for her, my wife and my daughter to vacation there once a year. This year she scheduled her stay only 2 days in advance due to her work giving out her schedule week to week. The day before they were set to leave her daughter in law and three grand children ages 10 - 14 were in a devastating car accident resulting in the death of the other driver and all 4 passengers being air lifted to area hospitals. You can see the crash on the news by Googling "Car accident Forest Hill CA 7/12/22". While her 3 grand children and daughter in law were being rushed into surgery, her ex-husband, my wife's father passed away due to a tragic heart attack no one saw coming, he was 65 and otherwise healthy. In the midst of all this unbelievable chaos my mother in law had the strength of character and foresight to call and cancel a hotel reservation so that the hotel could attempt to resell the room. A courtesy most of us would not have extended in those circumstances. When she called the hotel crying, Karen told her she would not be issuing a refund and then called her a liar. "you wouldn't believe the things people try to tell us to get out of a reservation", while I do not doubt there are psychopaths that make up wild excuses to get out of hotel reservation I find it very unlikely that its common for someone to tell you a story of this magnitude on a regular basis. I tried calling to reason with this walking, talking cartoon villain of a woman and all she could manage to say was that "Bodega Bay is a destination town". So in closing, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. They clearly have a dim view of humanity that has permeated their business practices and I would not be surprised if the soap is chained to the shower like a pen in a bank.

My wife and I stayed there in the middle of the week for two nights in June 2022. The place was not busy at all. So that was nice. The service from the front desk was great, friendly and pleasant. The room was large and clean with a small balcony with a bay view along with a small table and chairs. It also had a coffee maker, microwave and a refrigerator. It had good TV reception (cable) so lots of channels. However, I did think that the TV was a bit small for the size room. My only negative thing I will point out was the latch on the sliding glass door leading to the balcony. It was almost inoperative. It was very hard to latch and unlatch. If you had to use it in an emergency to escape you would be hard pressed to open it quickly. If they fix that then it could get another star.

Positive: Staff were extremely sweet and helpful. When my plans got changed, they changed my room to suit my needs with no hesitation. The room was amazing, clean, spacious, and a beautiful view. Perfect location! Right where you want to be in bodega bay.

Main cons: Toilet not flushing, and no plunger; slow drain also on the bathroom sink; shockingly loud screeching noise whenever we opened or closed the very stiff sliding door; no hangers in the closet; dirty shower curtain; overly chatty lobby person behind a full on barricade of plexiglass, where you have to wear a mask, even though all local ordinances have been revoked. The location is great, and the 20% off one breakfast at Lucas Wharf, is nice; but doesn't make up for breakfast no longer offered with the high room price. We returned to this spot for our six year anniversary, because we honeymooned there. The hot tub in the room is very nice, and the hot water never quit. But since it was sold recently, it has become not worth the price. We paid $660 for just two nights. Without breakfast, and with the other room issues, we feel it wasn't worth it. If it was more than $200 cheaper, it might have been. When I walked down to turn in the room keys, I forgot my mask (because it's ridiculous to still requiring it, when even the post office doesn't anymore) so I wrapped my sweater over my face. The front desk clerk asked me how our stay was, and I replied honestly that the toilet wasn't flushing. She asked me what I meant, so I found myself having to go into unnecessary detail while awkwardly holding my sweater over my face. Then she started chattering about how it shouldn't have been an issue because they had just had to roto rooter out. (Her words weren't going to change the fact that the friggin' toilet wouldn't flush, with all the grossness that entails.) Honestly, if I wanted a malfunctioning toilet, I would have stayed home. At least I have a plunger. Having already annoyingly extended our conversation, she starting chattering about the new carpet in the room. -- The room was all hardwood flooring. -- She clearly wasn't paying attention to the obvious fact that I was trying to be done with the conversation, and holding my clothing over my face. It seems clear that the new owners want to make money with as little customer contact as possible. And though she was friendly enough, the front desk woman was time deaf, and oblivious. When we checked in, she wouldn't stop talking about hanging up the towels to let them dry, when I was trying to read the disclaimer, and fine filled contract I had to sign to get the keys. There are other hotels with in-room tubs, and equally good locations and views, that might be a better bet when staying in Bodega Bay. We have decided not to go to this one again. Reply: thank you for advising that you're charging with the market will bear. My review simply stated that we felt it was too much money for what we got. I did not say that you're charging more than other places. I did suggest that other places might have more to offer for similar pricing. Has it crossed your mind that we didn't want to interrupt our second honeymoon to have a plumber come into our space? We are not complaining types of people, but when you ask us a question, we respond honestly. And I'm honest in all of my reviews. It would have been fantastic if there was a plunger in the room. We would have used it, and taken care of the problem. Am I to understand that we are now being called to task for not having called you to complain about the room? If you don't want to know how our stay was, then don't ask me when it was clear I just wanted to give you the keys, pay my bill, and get out of your lobby where I was one-handed due to having to cover my face with my sweater. I'm fully vaccinated, and boosted. And I still am the first person to put on a mask on when it's appropriate; but no one else in the county is requiring them at this time. We did not specifically request room 163, as that was not the room we stayed in for our honeymoon. We just wanted a room with a hot tub in it. I honestly would have preferred a non-heart-shaped tub, as that is just a little too precious for me. Don't misrepresent the facts.

Questions & Answers

Can we walk to the beach with our beach gear (includes a cooler, portable bbq grill, shade tent)? How long is the walk?

Too long of a walk carrying all That stuff. You should drive to the state beach and pay the day fee. It is a great location
