This was pretty uneventful. Very hot in the exhibit area. Good bit of history though if you are really into that stuff. Children will probably be really bored with the history exhibit but would enjoy the trails.

Not a big site, but truly fascinating. The history is well explained and presented in an easy manner to absorb. A lot was lost during/after the 1930s excavation, but what's left is being well preserved and protected. Two entrance choices - outside mounds only, or mounds and the museum building, which houses an excavated mound. I'd highly suggest paying slightly more for the combo ticket. They're part of the NPS Lewis & Clark Trail, with a Junior Ranger program for those that are interested. I reluctantly skipped the Trail, it was too hot for it to be enjoyable. Pets aren't allowed in the buildings, but can visit the grounds (on leash). Don't miss the gift shop - they offer a very impressive array of native-made souvenirs and reproductions of archeological items found during the digs, at ridiculously reasonable prices. And if you have any questions, the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable.

Very friendly staff. Small park but very informative about the lives of Native Americans and their way of life in this area of the country. Entry discounts for Veterans and Seniors.

Our family enjoys historical venues. On our way back from Virginia, after visiting historical sites there, we were surprised to stumble onto the Wickliffe mounds. The connection with Lewis and Clark and the amazing dig site that shows life …

I believe so.
Dogs, on a leash, are allowed outside on grounds, but not permitted inside buildings, unless they are service dogs. Owners must pick up after their dogs, and not allow them to dig or scratch the ground surface. If dogs are disruptive to other park guests, you will be asked to restrain your dog or visit another time. Thank you.
Good Question, you should give them a call.
You can see the mounds from the parking lot, but there is an admission fee to get into the historic site if you want to read the signage and visit the museum. Adult admission was $6.
