The location and grounds and tea room is grand. The tour of the home was a challenge. The speaker Elizabeth Robertson Hutsinger was short and pressed for time and annoyed. The group felt like they were in first grade. Perhaps speaker was overwhelmed? She felt the need to impress alot of rules and restraints rather than focus on the tour people's excitement for the grand number of things on display. Loved the array of items and the home upkeep. Would have enjoyed more time talking history. The tea room gumbo and array of tea was really good! Very pleased. The person on phone helping make arrangements and reservations was very helpful.

My family had our own private tour of the plantation house learning about the old rice plantation and the history of the past owners. Since we're not huge on history, it wasn't really our cup of tea, but it was quiet and away from the bustle of Charleston. My kids loved the cat who followed them around for a while outside, but were a bit bored with the history lesson. Photos are not allowed in the house itself, which was unfortunate given some of the cool features of the house such as the melting candle accents on several of the rooms' moldings. Given the huge crowds heading to other plantations in the area, this was definitely a breath of fresh air to explore.

Short tour but interesting. The owner is still residing in house and for that reason no pictures are allowed inside. Beautiful property!

The plantation was nice but the tour left something to be desired. The tour started late and was very rushed. The tour guide started talking before everybody was even into a room. The tour description claimed the tour included the attic but in reality we just got to look up into the attic from the bottom of the stairs. The gentleman who was talking to the group before the official tour was far more interesting than the lady giving the tour.

Yes there is a lovely restaurant that serves a variety of teas as well as other delicious food. Call ahead to make a reservation to ensure seating that works well with your tour timie. You can also book these activities on their website.
Spent approximately 90 minutes, might have chosen to stay longer and walk the property and river but the mosquitoes were out of control. There is no cotton
Last tour is at 3:00 - last seating in tearoom about 3:00 - we are designed to serve in the tearoom to people who tour at 2:00. Thanks for the comments all y'all- look forward to seeing you at Hopsewee!
They have a nominal fee to tour the home. A family does live there. The Tea Room restaurant is separate, it is not expensive. The food is excellent and the ambiance of this place is unforgettable.
Not sure. A trip to the library might help
I was there last month. It was $20 for adults purchased online with a $1.20 fee added to that. The fee is put towards a meal at the tea room...which was lovely.
Just go to Hopsewee. They will have a record of your purchase. There is no physical ticket, although you will receive a sticker to wear when you check in.
Not that I am aware of. But it is so worth the trip. Last year when we took a Myrtle Beach vacation Hopsewee Plantation was a family favorite!
