This fort is so pretty and full of history. It is a must visit if you're in Mackinaw City. In addition to exploring the fort, one can get great views of the strait of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge from here.

Several historic sites are all located on the property at the base of the Mackinaw Bridge. Great views of the lakes & the bridge, lots of history to learn about. The grounds are spacious with lots of trees for shade, benches and picnic tables. The beach area appears to be lined with fill rock, not natural beach stones; not great for swimming or rock hunting. The park is located at the end of Nicolet St & has no entrance or fee; the grounds are open 24/7. The buildings (lighthouse, fort, gift shop, etc) have specific hours & some have entry fees. Street parking & a few small lots are available. The bridge is a sight to behold at night when it's all lit up! Some people find the bridge easier to cross at night because you can't see the water or how high you are.

Like going back in time. The fort is a great place to visit with family. The buildings are done in a way, it seems the original inhabitants just left. People in costumes of the time are enacting scenes of every day life and are explaining life in the fort. We have been going there for the last 20 years, and it never gets old.

So happy I stopped here it was so worth the trip to see this place. The staff was absolutely wonderful. They were Very informative and had a vast knowledge of the History here and were more than happy to answer any questions I had. They have a live musket demonstration as well as many others. This is definitely for families or anyone who loves a good historical experience. I highly recommend coming to spend the day up here. Plan on at least 2-3 hours to really soak it in all in or an hour and a half to tour the place and just look.

Hi, I'm trying to find a campground for our RV close to the bridge. When I searched online, yours came up. But on the website, I'm not seeing anything about camping. Do you have a campground that accepts motorhomes or not?
