I think I went through the same, it says held for pickup in status but it's not there. I was told to look for the dcr control number for it to be really be there.

Sometimes they'll let you sign a letter/note saying they can drop off the package without you signing upon receipt/delivery. The only thing is you have to be sure your neighborhood is safe and the package will be there when you get home. Once you sign, the responsibility for loss is no longer with the seller or the delivery company. It's all on you. Yes, you should call them and determine what would be the best way to handle this delivery. Possibly you can pick it up on your lunch hour. Ir maybe your son would be able to pick it up. As far as future purchases go, you might be allowed to have delivery go directly to your place if employment. Some companies allow this but often larger companies do not. (Why? Because once your place of employment gets involved, they're responsible for the item until you retrieve it. ) BTW - Don't let your son give you too much guff about not getting his package today. FedEx is the worse! They kept my package because they ran out of time to deliver. Seen the truck stopped right up the road and seen others in the area. Now I had to wait til the day AFTER Christmas for my overnight package that was to be here on the 23rd. I never had an issue w/UPS so far. They will even hold or divert my package for free, whereas FedEx wants you to pay a fee for that service.

Cindy, UPS does hire seasonal work. I did it last Christmas season. I worked as a Driver's Helper for about six weeks. It's very fast paced and you work pretty many hours, delivering packages for the holiday season. I LIKED IT but some of the Helper's found it tiring and difficult to keep up with the Drivers.
