We scheduled our vehicle for a tire rotation at 5:30pm. First, they complained via text that the appointment was too close to closing and wanted us to come in earlier. We scheduled this through the Pep Boys website and if they didn't want to take appointments at 5:30pm, they shouldn't provide it as an option. Second, when my wife showed up at 5:15pm - 15 minutes early for her appointment - the guy gave her an attitude because that was STILL too late for him. Keep in mind they close at 6pm, so that would have given him 45 minutes to do a 10-15 minute job. Third, he looked at her tires and told her he wouldn't do the job because the tires with the better tread were in the front, which he told her is where you want them on a FWD car. WRONG - and frankly, it's pretty concerning that a mechanic doesn't know that. The tires with the best tread always go in the rear. Fourth, he told her that her tread depth was "too low" and she needed 4 new tires right away. He didn't use a tread depth gauge to determine this; he just looked at them and made his assessment. WRONG again. The tires measure 4-6/32nd all around and while they will need to be replaced soon, they are still well within the legal limits and certainly not beyond rotating. He just wanted to sell my wife a set of tires at far more than she would pay elsewhere. Fifth, I got an email from Pep Boys shortly after saying "Sorry you couldn't make your recent service appointment with us." FALSE again! We were there and you refused to perform the scheduled service. Lastly, Pep Boys rejected my review because they do not permit comments on customer service. What kind of company disregards feedback regarding customer service? Well, I suppose it's the same kind of company that refuses to publish negative reviews.
