I had a very shady experience with EC Fiber, and they kept my money without providing any service. The story; I went to get fiber setup 2 years ago, but ended up cancelling (before any work was done). There was no invoice, no receipt, because no work had been done. Then last month, I went to get fiber setup again (new job!) and was charged $150 for a string installation that was "done" two years ago. I told them that work was never actually completed, hence they never charged me for it back then, but I paid the bill regardless to get my service started. When they came out to the house (without any notice, so I wasn't home) they left me a message and told me the string was in fact missing, that possibly the fiber string had been "cut", so I would need to hire a contractor to re-string it before they could start my service. What?! I asked for my money back. They refused to refund me, claiming this installation was done two years ago (even though I never received a bill, have no proof, and there is no string installed...) I mean, if that was the case, why wasn't I charged for this 2 years ago? This company is super dishonest and very hard to work with. They still have my money and refuse to refund me for an installation that was never done. They have a work order that says it was completed in 2020, but... why wasn't I charged for it back then? And why, when they came out to look at it just now, is the string missing?! Why am I being charged for a service they apparently did two years ago, yet I have no proof of? So shady. This place is a scam.

Difficult process to get the conduit installed, so it gets 3 stars. I may revisit if I'm super happy with the speed. The install guys were all super nice and very personable. Update: While it was difficult to get installed, I've been very happy with the speeds and customer service. Had an issue where my speeds were dropping randomly and they worked with me to fix the issue.

Are people seriously complaining about EC Fiber? Perhaps they have never dealt with comcast or verizon. EC Fiber is one of the many things that makes our brave little state awesome. You call them, get a real person, and get a number to call back if they are not there. Yes the prices are high but I am pretty sure you can find on their website a breakdown of how they spend their $$ and why. I used to own two modems, one for Comcast and one for Verizon and go to battle every year with each to get the lowest price. So grateful can keep my $$ local with a non-profit that makes some very rural towns home to unique people working remotely.
