The best way to find long-term shelter, which may lead to permanent housing, is to go through the Department of Homeless Sevices. The main intake for single men is on 30th Street and for women it's in the Bronx. They'll assess your situation and place you in a city shelter, which ain't no picnic so good luck!

Yes, no one takes your phone. You just can't bring food up the dorm. It's a very easy place to sleep. The showers are hott and they serve breakfast and dinner

Now to answer your question, New York City Bellevue Hospital has access to more programs that can serve and meet your needs. The hospital social workers are better equipped to help you in comparison to New York City Rescue Mission, don't get me wrong, the New York City Rescue Mission does a wonderful job of assisting those in dire need of help, but Bellevue would be better fit to provide you with assistance that is specific to your current needs.

No the rescue mission is n not your answer. What you need to do is apply for PATH at the DHS intake center on East 30th Street off of 1st Ave. PATH is the division in DHS that houses families will children. If you bring all of the proper documentation with you and show up early enough in the day, there is a good chance you will be placed on the same day.

It costs nothing. If it's your first time you can stay for free for 7 days. After you go into a lottery for an additional 7 days.

You know, I never counted. However, people get a ticket when they come in and they are called by that. So, here is the thing. As people are called they pick up some clothing items if they find something and then they leave. More people will arrive. Until there are either no more clothes or they are closing up for the day.

Sort of. You get a bed for a week guaranteed. Then every week you put your name on a lottery. If your name is drawn your guranteed another week. If not you have to find some other place.

You cannot sleep here and there is no food at 11:30pm. They are not open at this time. Try Bowery mission, they have left over sandwiches sometimes and will let you in if there is room, but you'll have to sleep in a chair
