We went at sunset right before the park closed. If you want the real Seattle experience this is a must. From 0 to 100 residents come to the beach for the day and stay to watch the sun set. If you're not into talking to stranger this will be a weird experience for you, but if you love dogs it's great. Just don't forget to ask permission from the dogs before you greet them.

With fire pits, the beach, a playground a great view, this parks offers entertainment for all ages. Plenty of parking, lots of slave to walk or ride a bike. Sunsets are amazing here as well, with good weather, of course.

What a beautiful place. I was in heaven. The vibe is fantastic. Lots of families and friends just having a good time and my favorite lots of dogs. There’s a good bit of parking as well as lots of paths and bathrooms as well as a little cafe/bistro nearby. Next time I will is k a picnic and stay all day.

Absolutely beautiful and tranquil spot to watch the sunset! Really loved the local vibe and how dog-friendly it is here. I especially enjoyed watching (and hearing!) the seals swim by so close to the shore. My only regret was not thinking ahead enough to bring a picnic. Next time!

Yes, there nets set up on the beach next to the bathhouse.
Yes you can
It is very safe to swim in the water however understand it's about 50 degrees Fahrenheit and potentially dangerous if you're not careful.
Yes
There are two shelters you can reserve. Each is 120 bucks. http://www.seattle.gov/parks/reserve/picnic-reservations
Yes, they are are. However there are not too many of those and park is very popular with locals. So plan your trip accordingly.
There are many sweet and savory options. For a savory option, there are flatbread sandwiches that come in beef kebab, chicken kebab, or cauliflower and hummus. There is a salad that has farmers market greens, toasted seeds, queso fresco, and lemon vinaigrette. A light savory option is their picnic platter which has a variety of cheeses, dried fruits, and nuts. For more sweet options they have an acai bowl that has the acai puree topped with market fruit, granola, coconut, and bee pollen. they have mini dutch pancakes that can be topped with berries and whip, melted butter and powder sugar or with nutella and banana. if you are in the mood for something light they have a smaller snack/kids menu which has the plain mini kebab, hummus and flatbread, a fruit cup, PB&J, or cheerios with milk. if want to refresh yourself the have Full Tilt popsicles and La Michoacana Paletas instore with over 10 flavors! they have yummy seasonal housemade beverages. chips, soda, and candy are there too.
yeah, there are picnic shelters and tables that you can reserve with grills, or bring your own
1/2 day is $75.00 Full day is $120 You have to fill on an online application and then wait to hear if you are confirmed.
Uh sure, I wouldn't leave anything unattended in the City of Seattle for 5 minutes much less multiple hours. Sorry to hear it though and best wishes for your husband.
If you can handle the super cold water at this time of year, then yes.
No
The park is safe. I would advise against children exploring the trails which are above the railroad line above the park
As Dave Miller said, you can shore fish in the park. Just to the south there is a dock where I've seen people fish. Right near the Little Coney restaurant.
Some of the trails make good workout trails, but you have to watch for roots and depressions. Flat ones are great for running but sometimes crowded.
Free parking but the spots are narrow and crowded, bring your patience.
Gas Works has a better view
Two answers, choose the one you like. 1. Well, that is based off of your opinion. In general, nature is very beautiful, and the ocean is part of that collection. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to go to the ocean, while the common moss can be found in most Puget Sound neighborhoods. Tourists usually take pictures of unique features that they cannot always see, so when you go to a beach, it makes sense to take pictures of the ocean... I raise a similar situation, would you go to the Olympics to only take pictures of the plane you took to get there? Everyone wants to show off their fascination of unique features (in this case, the ocean), so why not just enjoy it? 2. People like to see the ocean, and it's pretty.
This is a park. It has a small event venue space for rent but no rooms for sleeping. Closest hotels would be in downtown Ballard.
There is no bridge into the main entrance, there is a low bridge if you try to head up the hill from Golden Gardens into the upper parking lot and the dog park.
Bike rentals are through lime bike. Download the Lime bike app on your phone to locate if a bike to rent is parked nearby. You can then rent on the app.
Off leash park is a short walk up the hill from the entrance to the park. Start by walking under the short railroad bridge and up the switch back road about 1/4 mile. There is a paved parking lot at the offleash park.
Check with Seattle Parks & Recreation -- check on their website and/or call.
I see people using them, but not sure if they are technically allowed.
You can only have a bonfire in the metal fire pits on the North end of the beach
