It's so nice to have an organization that caters to high handicap golfers as well as the elite in their many tournaments. Thanks to the organizers and the event hosts at private exclusive clubs .

The FSGA continues to improve and impress! Thank you to the many volunteers and their impressive staff. Doesn’t hurt that the courses are always mint too 😉

Questions & Answers

Our club is mandating that we share golf carts again, if not they will charge a $10 fee. With the pandemic still lingering, I am not comfortable sharing carts yet. Is there a specific body of the USGA that I can contact for clarification?

Thank you for your question. To reach the USGA please contact: (908) 234-2300. The PGA of America also posted Back2Golf guidelines to assist clubs during the pandemic. https://www.pga.org/coronavirus-resources/Back2Golf All the best.

What is the format for the youngest division in the parent child championship? Can't find anything posted, scores seem to be a stableford. Have played in the regular division for many years. Thanks.

Thank you for asking. The youngest division in the Parent-Child plays a “Chapman” format, just like the older divisions, but the scoring is done using stableford points. We actually give 3 points for par, 2 for bogie and one point for double bogie. The youngest divisions play just 9-holes per day and it’s tremendous fun!!

How many rounds needed to establish a handicap

Under the new Rules of Handicapping, in order to establish a handicap, you would need to post a minimum of 54 holes. Once you have this minimum met, a handicap index will be calculated that evening at midnight, local time.

Mission Inn. Thank you for asking!

I live in Michigan . I winter in Florida. I want my Florida golf scores transferred to my club in Michigan. Can we do this?

Fred Cahall | Sep 9, 2018
Florida State Golf Association | Sep 9, 2018

As long as both clubs are members of their respective state's amateur golf association, the transfer of scores should be automatic. Both states use the GHIN handicap system and as long as your two accounts are "linked", you should be all set. Please check with your golf professional to ensure your accounts are linked.

How do you determine a card out when there is a tie? Do you go to the #1 handicap hole and so on? At our club in Massachusetts we just go to the last 3 holes but that may be a club rule.

Joan Ruggere | Sep 9, 2018

The USGA recomended scorecard tie-breaking method is to compare the final nine holes of the final round. For shotgun starts, use the back nine. If the tie is not broken by using the last nine holes, then compare the last six, if still tied, use the last three holes and then the final hole. If you still haven’t determined a break in the tie...flip a coin. See the Rule of Golf for more information.
