This was my first time visiting the zoo and I really enjoyed it! It was a pretty hot day but seeing all of the different animals was worth it! I was surprised at the amount of diversity that this zoo had. My favorite part was seeing the giraffes. They were the cutest and the best part. It was a nice little day trip :)

This was a great smaller zoo with lots of natural flora and fauna that lines the paths and enclosures. We got there right at opening so all the animals we being fed while it was cool. Really a nice variety of animals. Lots of benches and a play area for younger kids. Our family did the Animal Ambassador along with the Hooves and Horns behind the scenes tour. Both were amazing and involved endangered animals. The tours behind the scenes are a must! Chris and Jennifer were wonderful to work with to get both tours done. Would recommend it to anyone whom has a love for animals! Tip: Order tickets ahead to save a few bucks.

First time visiting the Sacramento Zoo in a few years. Quite a nice change. Exhibits are more lively and attractive. My 4 year old daughter enjoyed herself. We bought a membership which I highly recommend if your planning on going a few times a year.

Lovely local zoo resides at the Oakland hill! The zoo has low floor and high floor, which is connected by the sky tram. From the sky tram you can see the whole San Francisco bay. That is the most attractive sightseeing from this Zoo! The zoo doesn't have many animals, but it is great for a family for a day trip. We came here on the first day of 2022. We had a great family time here! We will come back definitely.
You could take food in, but signs do say not to. It would actually be nicer to just have snacks for the kids while at the zoo and then have a picnic nearby. The zoo is surrounded by William Land Park, so there are plenty of grassy areas and picnic tables all around.
In the morning we went 0900-0930 and they where a bit excited and feeding was between 1000am- 1100am. Lions where roaring. Some of the monkeys where making nose but I think they where cold. Kangaroos where up out and awake. Hope this helps. There are dinosaurs everywhere the Zoo. Kids loved it. God bless.
Does the kids price have an age limit. Or a free under an age? My son is 2. Tia.

Yes, they have special accommodations for the disabled. Check out the web site for the exact details. I see people driving those little motor carts around when I am at the zoo.

Several hedgehogs live at the zoo, however they dont have an exhibit. Those cute little creatures only come out for educational talks every now and then. You can see them in the Wildlife Stage Shows, or with the volunteers at the front of the zoo!
The best place to check on prices is on the Zoo's website as the price varies according to the day. The merry-go-round and train are currently operating
Is there a difference in the zoo hours for daylight savings,or doesn't the zoo observe them?

The USA does observe daylight savings time, but that does not affect the hours themselves. 9am to 4pm is the same during daylight savings time as it is out of it. The only difference is that it starts to get dark around 5 during the wintertime.
When we got our tickets, I didn't see any note on discount for Healthcare workers. If you really want to know, it would be best to call them and ask directly.
Everything in 2020 is expensive...keeping animals and staff healthy weither you come or not is expensive. You are bring your offspring close to life...not a book...not a movie nut real life. More than memories you are bonding and learning together about animals...where they are from and what the eat ect. To save money...bring your own food...snacks...water and dine together.
I think its a great family outing..enjoy and give up your Starbucks for the family fun.
Discount and Free admission to National Parks require a Disabled placard. Show your DMV paperwork at Any National Park. This Zoo is Not in a National park.

I heard the zoo is trying to relocate and not renewing its lease in land park. About When will it be closing down? Wondering if it’s a good idea to get a membership for Christmas 🎄

It will be a few years and memberships will transfer over to the new location.
If you're in a hurry you can do the park in probably an hour and a half but if you take your time and make a couple of laps and really look at everything you could take a good three or four hours
Does anyone know how the zoo membership works? I have a oakland zoo membership does everyone who comes with me get the half off ?
Allison Aguilera | Sep 8, 2019
whacky pax | Sep 8, 2019
Yes you'll get half off. Only the oakland zoo would be free for you.
You can go to all zoos across the country, sea world is half off, some museums are half off, and you might find others too
No not normally. You may be referring to Wells Fargo Wednesdays. The first Wednesday of each months up to 4 kids ages 2-11 can get in free with the paid adult.
How much does it cost to get in
pam hendren | Sep 8, 2018
Morebars Natay | Sep 8, 2018
On the weekends it 19.99 for adults and 15.00 for kids
The entrance fee to the zoo is 14.95 for adults, 13.95 65 and over, 9.95 for kids 2-11 and 2 and under free. So for 2 adults and 2 kids it will be around $50 for the Sacramento Zoo.
There is a smallish parking strip accross from the zoo that is free. It is a 1 minute walk. Probably holds around 20 cars. Plus street parking as well.
I see several people have responded to ticket price. Im glad because, l don't know the regular prices.
I'm disabled and my husband and I are both seniors. I believe I get in free and they give my husband a discount (beyond the senior price) so, for us it's really an economical day.
Hi everyone all I have to say is don't use your ATM or credit card at any vendor I used it that day only at the zoo and someone used my account to pay their AT&T bill and that was the only place I use that card and months so the zoo took my number and paid their phone bill with it $80. So take cash and do not use your credit cards or ATM because the cashiers will take them not all but someone there did you use my card
No they wont let you take your family animal in! the other wild animals will eat them! Occasions I think they have an animal day where you bring your animal in
I would not recommend going in colder weather or rain because the animals will be seeking shelter so it's not worth the money to go on bad weather like the cold or snow.
