For anyone needing mental health care, I would highly recommend Polina Dasgupta, PA-C, with Elevate Psychiatry. Due to a cancer diagnosis and other persistent medical issues, I had been suffering from depression and anxiety and decided to seek the help of a psychiatrist. Instead of getting better I found myself not only dependent upon the daily pain medication that was required to keep my pain at bay, but in addition, I foolishly allowed myself to be prescribed benzodiazepines until I had an additional dependency on them. Knowing I needed to get off the benzodiazepines, I decided to try Elevate Psychiatry and I began seeing Polina. She adjusted my psychotropic drugs and I began feeling much better within the first few weeks. Polina is extremely compassionate, listening to what I had to say and using my input to devise or revise a plan, and as importantly, to let me adjust the pace of treatment that kept me comfortable and feeling safe. She is thorough, not only focused on the mental aspects of a patient’s problem, but she assesses the possible physical implications as well. I was surprised a few weeks ago when she asked if I had a copy of my latest laboratory tests. The test results were about 4 months old, but I sent them to her. Within a few hours, she wrote me and informed me that I was anemic and she prescribed medication. A few days later I received an email from my primary physician apologizing for not having caught the abnormal test results and wrote that it was important for me to continue the medication that Polina had ordered. For this and all the other support she has given me, I am grateful.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bhatia since 2019. His approach is warm, welcoming, patient, attentive, empathetic, understanding, and non-judgmental. He always advocates for his patients and is in the best interest for everyone. My experience with Dr. Bhatia's service throughout the years is that he always listens to everything I share in-person, virtually, and through Patient Portal messages. Whenever he recommends a treatment or medication, he explains everything thoroughly, shares why and how he thinks the treatment/medication can help, and provides many resources. It was because of him that I went to see a sleep specialist for a sleep study and found out that I have a neurological disorder as well. My previous doctors always dismissed my concerns about my symptoms, so I am grateful that Dr. Bhatia always goes above and beyond. Last year, he helped me with my FMLA process because I was in a work situation that aggravated my symptoms significantly. He came up with a treatment plan and we met every two weeks to go over my progress. He also had me take a DNA medical test to help figure out which medication may or may not work for me. It was really helpful and gave us an insight on what other medications I could try. I also tried EMDR with Angela. The appointments were virtual and she helped me process some childhood traumatic memories. Earlier this year, Dr. Bhatia suggested I try Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Since I am treatment resistant to most medications, I was excited to try TMS. I met with Laura at the new office and she was really heartwarming, genuine, and knowledgeable. She kept me updated on the authorization process with my insurance. When my insurance didn't approve it, Dr. Bhatia, Dr. Perez, and Laura continued to try other ways to help get me approved. Dr. Bhatia provided an extensive letter stating why I am a good candidate and how TMS could benefit me. It meant a lot to me that they continued to advocate for me. When I received the news that I was finally approved for TMS, I was really excited and thankful. I had a consultation with Dr. Perez, who was really patient, knowledgeable about TMS, and understanding. Laura and Dr. Perez put a fabric cap on my head and marked the spots where the TMS device would go. I went to Elevate Psychiatry every weekday for 36 sessions (30-minute per session). The magnetic pulses felt like a head massage for me and it was nice to talk to Laura, Mel, and Britney, who helped administer the TMS treatment every session. They asked me about my moods, caffeine use, and sleep quality. After my last TMS session, they gave me a written card. It was a really nice gesture and made me tear up. TMS helped me feel better and have relief. During my TMS treatment, I also did 1-2 talk therapy sessions a week, tried to incorporate exercise and a healthy diet on a regular basis, practiced mindfulness, and attended peer support groups. I worked part-time to have more time to focus on my health and be able to pinpoint my symptoms and side effects better. I was told there are options if I regress, such as maintenance TMS or another full 36 sessions if it's severe, and maybe medication. They also do weekly TMS support groups for patients currently or who finished their TMS sessions. I highly recommend patients to book several appointments in advance because they get booked really quickly, and work on your lifestyle outside of psychiatric care. If you don't like something or someone's service, say something, so they can improve or figure out how to help you better. They are not mind readers, so be sure to communicate and track your journey. I love the staff and appreciate their services. The Patient Portal is really user-friendly. You can book, reschedule, cancel, and check into appointments, send secure messages, go over your medical history and documents, and request forms. They accept many types of health insurance plans and will try to work with those who are in financial need.

While I love my psychiatrist and therapist and they have truly saved my life elevate is garbage. They don’t care about the patient at all or about people with mental illnesses, if you’re low income don’t even bother because they do not care to even help low income mentally ill people. They don’t actually care about anyone but money. Don’t be fooled while the docotors who work here are phenomenal the company itself only cares about money and is not there to be an actual helpful mental health resource. One more thing, I find it absolutely deplorable that as a mental health company you wouldn’t have any programs in place for low income mentally ill people. A lot of mentally ill people are low income and cannot access a $79 charge for every session and you guys have zero programs put in place to help those people, you don’t even try! That’s the worst part. You guys only care about the $$$$ not menta health.

I have been a patient for over a year now and I am beyond grateful to have found them. The staff is always very helpful and are great with communication. I have been treating with Polina since coming to elevate psychiatry and she has truly helped change my life around. She is extremely detail oriented, she listens to you, and truly cares about seeing patients get the proper care they need. She has so much compassion and is so supportive. Finding a mental health professional that you feel comfortable with is difficult but elevate psychiatry led me to her and the wonderful staff. Thank you guys for all the amazing work that you guys do. You are truly appreciated!
