Crowded lifts, lots of people and snow can be slushy. Can be ok if you must ski in so cal. Avoid fresh snow days as it will be packed wall to wall. Better to just drive a bit further so you can enjoy your day more. Other than the the resort is nice but needs to update older lifts. Addition of 1-2 more all mountain lifts would help to eliminate issues with lines. Needs better snow making capabilities to take advantage of snow making days.

This is a solid resort. Me and my friends have been coming here for 5 years or so and every season we get the ikon pass which up front seems expensive but if you come every weekend, it’s well worth the money. They even have a cheaper season pass for big bear resorts which include access to snow summit and bear mountain. My only gripe with this place is it’s a family resort so there’s a lot of beginners on some of the even more advanced runs causing chaos and just chilling in the middle of runs. Bear mountain would be ideal to go if your looking to hit more park features like rails/boxes/jumps and be surrounded by more advanced riders. This place is better to bring your kids and family. Also note that the main lot gets full quick, if your okay with waiting for and riding the meat wagon, this shouldn’t be an issue for you. I can understand that some people bring their family’s here and want the convenience of having access to their car mid day so for that to be possible, get here early.

I love skiing & this is my local ski resort so I really want to give it a higher rating but the experience has some challenges. Parking & traffic control is almost always a mess. It’s gotten worse the last few seasons. Most people have to park off site & shuttle in. We buy the premium parking pass, but it’s still a challenge most days. The lines can be really long in the base area at tickets & rentals. We buy passes which helps, but it can be a maze to get through to the snow. When there is good snow & good grooming, the lift lines are usually pretty short although chairs 1 & 2 can be long. I recommend lessons for beginners, otherwise there aren’t a lot of runs for those without basic skills.

I really enjoyed skiing here during the holidays, great fresh snow. Very professional instructors and very helpful staffs. Only one thing I would like to point out is the ski trail map seems misleading. The “Summit Run” is green which currently means “easier” as the legend says but I feel it is definitely more difficult than those blue legend (more difficult) trails the lift 10 leads. I consider myself below intermediate (level 4) and can casually ski the trails under lift 10 confidently and easily but I feel the “summit run” especially the two slopes that near the bottom is challenging for me. I saw at least 4 people towed away on sled by the staff(very professional btw) during my runs on it. Beginners should be really careful skiing or snowboarding on the trail in my opinion but it’s definitely a huge skill leap if one can conquer the fear and challenges with safety in mind. Anyway skiing is really enjoyable even addictive for some people I think, but I really feel people should take lessons at least the first time. It’s really dangerous just renting the equipment and jumping onto the lift to ski all the way down. The instructors are very professional and the lessons learned are for lifetime.

They are closed for the season as of April 7th, 2018!!!!
Snow is slushy but its always fun to try your shot at crossing the ice pond . Believe me you dont want to miss it. Also it's pretty darn sweet to see all you ladies in bathing suits shredding down the hill!🔥🔥👍
You can check fees at snow summit and bear mountain websites. All depends in how many days you want to ski, with or without rental equipment.
It's snowing right now but I'm planning on going to show summit tomorrow

Hello, tickets are required for on-hill activities – skiing/snowboarding, tube park, etc. – and special events, but in general are not required to visit the Bear Mountain or Snow Summit base areas. You can pre-purchase Grizzly Tube Park tickets online: https://www.bigbearmountainresort.com/winter/things-to-do/winter-activities/grizzly-ridge-tube-park.
Hi. You have a question? This section is for questions only.

What kind of clothes? You can rent ski, snowboard, shoes, helmets, ski poles.
Hello, you’ll have to call 844.GO2.BEAR regarding your refund.
Mountain is open with plenty of trails. Winter storms in So Cal start cranking mid January -March . The natural Snow on top of man made base provides excellent 🎿 conditions.
So could you work on making snow for the wall since its your only challenging run
Just as soon as the snow falls or it's cold enough for the machines to make it.
Correct Cindy. Rain shrunk the base from 22-30" to 16-28" according to the report. Freezing tonight (Friday) it will be crust & ice in am.
Big Bear Mountain Resort is usually open from mid-November to early April. Opening and closing dates are based on weather and conditions.
Yes! Ikon Pass and Ikon Base Pass do not have blackout dates at Big Bear Mountain Resort for the 21/22 winter season. You can use them this weekend.
Ok. I hope this helps. This is my first season up here working with Big Bear Mountain/snowsummit. When I seen how short staffed it was going to be I had no idea the toll it would take on the whole experience for visitors and as a worker. . Its not easy on either of our staff or guest but we're trying here. My apologies for the bad experience. I wish I could help. And hopefully your next visit will be a better one.
It snowed halfway up BB, saw ppl playing along the sides of roads going up the mountain. Plenty of snow esp near snow valley where it snowed a bunch night before.
Last chair 3:59pm sharp this week. Night sessions will start soon which are a separate ticket. There will be longer hrs added to day passes at that point in time as well this season.
No, when you purchase a ticket you have the option to pick the different age categories. The adult ticket price cuts off at age 64 but move the option to seniors age 64+ and you will find a cheaper rate for seniors.
Guests may receive one (1) free lift ticket, valid for same-day use at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, on their legal date of birth. Guests must redeem at the ticket windows or at the BBMR Visitors Center in the Big Bear Lake Village on their legal date of birth and provide valid ID at time of redemption. Cannot be redeemed online. Birthday tickets are not limited, do not require an advance reservation, and do not count against daily lift ticket allotments. Birthday tickets are valid the same hours as a full-day ticket. Review the Hours of Operation page for details.
Yes
Hello, we do not offer a snow play area. All guests entering the base area much have a lift ticket or season passes this season.
Hello. The Grizzly Ridge Tube Park is our tubing area. For more information, view here: https://www.bigbearmountainresort.com/things-to-do/grizzly-ridge-tube-park
Yes go the kids section
Get the Children's Learning Center (CLC) with rentals. Comes with skis, boots, poles, & helmet (make sure they include the helmet). I think it's $115 each child. Class times are 10am, 12pm, & 2pm weekdays. 930am, & 1pm weekends. I think the class is called "Adventurers". The day that they have the lessons they are only allowed to go 1/2 way up the mountain (lifts 13, 14, & 6) because they are beginners. For the adult get the Adult Learning Center (A.L.C.) with rentals. If you think your able to ski from the top of the mountain you can go back to the ticket line and purchase a lift upgrade that will allow you to go to the top (but not the children). Then the next time: you go skiing they can go all the way up if they are able. Go online & purchase the "4pack" anytime tickets for $99 & hey your rentals somewhere else and save about $10-$15 each person.
Not really, left over ice from storm of 2-3 weeks ago
8:30AM. For more hours, please check bbmr.com/hours.
Guests receive a FREE lift ticket on their birthday*. To redeem, guests must present a valid ID at any Bear Mountain or Snow Summit ticket window on their legal date of birth to receive a free 1-day lift ticket. *Offer valid only on legal date of birth. Lift ticket is non-transferable, not for resale, and cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion.

Well you can park somewhere and walk in to the Snow Summit Ski Area to see the snow free of charge. The tickets are for the lift for people to ski or snowboard. There is no viewing area with the lift.
Heard Easter is going to be their last day of operations.
Yes plenty but it's going to be slushy in the afternoon so go early as you can.
Opening day is May 24th for biking season at both Big Bear resorts
Hi Kathy I believe the estimated date is April 7th but it depends on the weather and available snow at that time. That's my beat guess.
Do a search for the Snow Summit Live Webcam in the days prior to going up. Judge for yourself. Good luck.
830 am to 4 pm
Get discounted tickets at Costco or on base if you are military. Prices vary by day or weekends.
Not sure... I didn't rent. I own my own equipment. Sorry.
Usually April, but will continue based on snow overage and conditions until May
Usually end of may

To answer your question, we do not allow the public to use our facilities for sledding. Check out this friends and family page for more info: https://www.bigbearmountainresort.com/winter/plan-a-trip/plan-a-trip/kids-family
Get stoked, Debbie. Temps are starting to drop. 32 degrees is prime for snowmaking. If the temp and humidity are in our favor with cold dry air, we can make snow up to 40 degrees. Hopefully soon! Be sure to sign up for our emails to be the first to know when we start blowing snow, announce Opening Day, and more!
Rain or shine, the bike park will be open.
We are still open for summer operations (Summit Bike Park, Zip Line, Bear Mountain Golf Course, etc). Winter operations is anticipated for mid to late November or early December.
Hi Anh. For the week of 11/9, Snow Summit will be closed for operations. We are planning to open sometime towards the end of November depending on the weather.
Most likely October 21st. That is the last available day online to purchase a ticket
They are open in the summer for mtn biking and in winter for snow sports.
Very limited terrain with spring conditions.
End of winter season is on April 15th. Starting April 9 until the end of the season, all kids under age 12 ski and ride at Snow Summit for free.
Definitely spring snow. Probably firm till 10-11 but is supposed to be warmer so it's shrinking fast.
Looks like altogether 26 are still open combined between the 2 mountains
Not much if any. There's an area by beginners area but looks like it washed away with rain we had.
It is not pet friendly but it is open during daylight hours.
Yes and yes. This is a good place to learn.
Yes. But it is literally the same lot as free parking. Arrive early and you'll get a spot
I think they close sometimes in April but depends on weather, so its hit and miss, they will shut down to get get the mountain bike tracks ready if its warm enough. So call to confirm
It's best to call and ask.
You can visit the restaurant without using the lifts, but if you wanted to vvisit the mountain top cafe, you will have to ride a lift up and either ski or board down
The lodge is now called Oak Fire Grill and the bar upstairs is called Hawks 52. Was totally renovated last summer, you have to pay visit...great food, good drinks, and the staff is amazing! 😁
no Jan to May unless dry year. Resorts make snow for skiing during that time too.
VCA on Northshore and Stanfield has boarding services available.
No, you must buy a ticket with lesson included for an extra cost
There is no natural snow, but there is artificial snow throughout the mountain
8:30 am-4pm
There are multiple options, depending on resort access, time of week etc ... They range from $389 to $599 for an adult (23-64) about $50 less for Youth/Senior
There's man-made snow and most runs are open. Conditions are best in the morning.
Normally May.
Yes you can.
Yes everything is open and 8ts not a super busy day so it's a good time to get in some fresh tracks, tube park and all food services are open as well.
Not yet but soon
I would not waste time asking the question online. I would ask the rental place
Absolutely, plenty of tubing parks and lots of other kid activities.
All the major holidays and peak ski season between now and Feb
Cost changes a lot sometime may go up the same day if many people show up.
Ignore the slackjaw inbreds giving terrible answers and bad reviews to everyone. A full day ticket during the snow season can range from $120 +/- surge pricing for holiday weekends etc... The best deal is to go on a half day when they let you stay past sunset. Only about $75 then and like having two snow adventures. Get on thier social media chains for special deals, which sometimes include very affordable gear rentals and other special packages. My prediction based on weather says lifts will be running 1&2 plankers to most trails by thanksgiving.
