I used Alamo Rent A Car on my most recent trip to Fort Lauderdale on August 8-9. The process was really easy and got to pick out my own car which was really nice. Upon dropping off my car the service was great. Esperanza helped me with the process since this was my first time renting a car. She helped me unload my car and helped give me directions on how to get to the airport from the rental center. She really made the drop off process easy and smooth for me which I greatly appreciated!

These guys are spectacular! I booked our trip through Priceline and had a rental arranged with one of the other guys. I changed my mind about what type of car I wanted so I gave them a call as their website suggested making changes to your reservation was an option. The gentleman on the phone was very rude said I could not make changes if I wanted something else I had to wait until my trip and see what was available at the counter. Well that was their fatal mistake because I had free cancellation so I canceled them and I found Alamo. The first thing I was happy about is they are on site at the airport which makes it super simple. The staff was extremely friendly and the gentleman that helped me find a car was awesome. I told him I really had my mind set on a Challenger and we walked around until we found the perfect one. The car was everything I hoped it would be and thanks to them the whole trip went perfectly. When you get back to the airport just follow the signs to drop the car off pull up hop out grab your luggage and they take care of the rest! The staff members that helped us out at the end were just as awesome as the ones in the beginning. 10 out of 10 I will definitely be using them next time!

Used the bypass the counter/kiosk feature. Excellent experience. Showed the email to the parking attendant and walked right to my car. Very clean inside, washed outside. This is why I use Alamo. Simple, easy transactions. Clean cars. Will use them again as always.

It was fast and easy, picking up my Alamo Rental Car at the Fort Lauderdale airport. Alamo is located in the airport, which makes car pick up so much less stressful. I'd filled out the paperwork in advance so the pick up took literally under five minutes. And the customer service rep was friendly, answered my questions about how tolls are paid, and didn't try to push me into more expensive options or services. Returning the car was fast and easy too.

Yes you can, I did it personally.
No
Yes .
You don't need a shuttle. All you have to do is follow the signs to car rental and walk over. It is very convenient
You won’t pay extra coverage if you don’t want to. Just do not choose the full coverage when you book the car. This car rental doesn’t obligate or enforce you to take an insurance, that’s why I always choose them ;)
Port everglades location is not open early morning at this time so if its after 9am you should be good. Also airport location closes at 11pm daily
Google Map directions
Yes,
I think Kia Rio, Ford focus..
None of those we looked at had manual transmission.
As far as I know they do offer a free shuttle service
Personally I always go to the counter. I always get a upgrade. I tried to use the self check-in and the upgrade was over $1000. At the counter it was so much less for a much better car.
That is not a problem.
They have Suv or Vans
Yes, there is a kiosk
There should be cruise reps in the terminal near baggage claim that offer shuttles for purchase.
Most likely no,but call them to be sure.
Sorry, I cannot answer that. Our experience was straight from terminal to the rental area
Yes. Arrive on your original due day to update
I think so. Just cannot leave the country with it.
It's auto charged
Don't worry. In Mexico you have to contact the Alamo airport IN the airport and after they will give the car. your only advantage is more fast. the paper maker and don't make a line of customers. In Mexico there are not yet a self check and don't choose your car.
Sometimes you have pay in advance options wherein the rates are lower compared to pay at counter rates. Check online
If you don't want to wait for the shuttle you can walk down to the car rental location. The walk would be about 8 to 10 minutes depending on how fast you are walking. When you get to the second yellow bridge you have made it. And it will be on the second level.
Transportation is usually at the port to take you anywhere you need that's close. Plus you can order a Lyft or uber.
Yes, you can - but I strongly advise you to leave without going to Walmart (4301 S University Dr Davie, FL 33328) which is very close by and buy them (a small fraction of the rent). Good trip !
24 hours
No ..... but there is constant transportation from the terminal to the rental center.
No need. All cars already come with the sunpass installed at the Poplar.
Many thanks for your helpful anwers !
It is a small bus ride to Alamo. For an extra charge you can do anything. But call.
25 but if you pay an extra underage fee you will be able to drive the car, all about money.
They want it right away....and they put the amount on hold with the credit card company. Incase there are extras like gas if you do not fill the tank
We did not have to put a deposit last week. Just made a reservation. Best price if you have a Cosco card go to Costco travel on internet
In the airport
There are 2 at the airport that is this and another in the city if you search on Google maps it will show you the 2
I picked up a rental not a person but just from being there I can see someone can either go through the terminal and outside as if you were getting a taxi or ride. Or go back out in the garage where you pickup your rental and someone can drive in the garage and pick you up there.
I don't believe so. We Uber. Have fun!
If you mean dropping the car off at the airport, stay left. There are huge signs. It's really hard to miss. It says something like, all car rental returns. Once you are there. Then there will be dividual signs for each company. So, just enter fort Lauderdale airport in your gps
You will probably get some "fine" for giving up
I was 23 days with the biggest van of them (if I'm not mistaken, FPAF) Ford Explorer, I paid 770 dollars, last month. Tip: close by www.happytours.com
Can't help! Spanish not my strong suit!
I'm sorry, I don't know
When you land make your way to the rental car center. It's located in terminal 1. If you're on terminal 2,3 or 4 you will have to use the shuttle to get to the car rental center. There's lots of car rental companies, Alamo, Hertz, Economy, etc.
Buy SLI ...supplementary liability insurance it covers 3rd party damages
Call Alamo
Stay far left when approaching terminal 1
Lots of taxis in airport at arrivals and airport rental center
Best to call and confirm
It depends which terminal your flight arrives in Fort Lauderdale. Most of the major rental car companies have their cars located in Terminal 1 including Alamo. If you're in Terminal 2, 3 or 4, you'll need a short free shuttle ride to Terminal 1.
I not sure where it goes but to go to the rental no fee
No. But there are two Alamos. One at the airport and one at the port. Pickup at one and drop off at the other. Problem solved. Worked perfect for us last week.
But yes is in the rent a car building next to the airport
We booked ours on the Alamo site prior as well. You take a shuttle to the rental car hub, it was very easy. Since we already had everything done, we had a car and leaving lot in 10 min. I would recommend doing it online ahead of time to avoid the wait.
Hello , you Will be fill up tank
It's on the right Side at the exit at the airport a yellow Bus. At least in october when I rented a car at Alamo.
Yes they have.
Yes, if you are renting another car.
At the airport terminal, direction car rental on the 2nd floor
Yes every time I travel Alamo requires a RETURN reservation in order to use a debit card. The GOOD NEWS is they DON'T REQUIRE a deposit. You pay whatever the cost is for the rental. Make sure you have that amount available because they will HOLD it on your debit card.
Yes , I believe on the website there is s section for people who are booking for someone else.
You must contact Alamo directly. They do not answer you here ....
Not sure on the cost but they do offer a gps rental. If you have a smart phone i would suggest using the google maps app. Just make sure to bring a cell charger.
Yes it is inside the airport ...anybody there could guide you how do you get to this place...
that's the amount they will hold on your credit card... btw, that amount is an approximation. The official amount will be determined once the car is returned. hope this answer helps.
If it's terminal one , you walk. If it's the rest of the terminals take the shuttle who drop you off right in front of the rental car, after take the elevator on the second floor and here you are ....
Took the public shuttle back to the airport
No.
It's in the big building with all the car rental places. Just follow the signs and take the tram/train back to the terminal
Find the airport rental area.
I am not sure. Never used this service, sorry.
I have never forget anything inside an Alamo car. Hope you find it.
This rental location is open 24 hours so I would think the shuttle would operate those hours also.
You can walk, the rental counter is in the airport.
Sorry. I don't know,. Didn't need one.
I don't know, i havent seen any. But, you'd be better call them directly to get the info from the horse mouth.
Typically yes but not necessarily the best discount. I still would not rent from them as they haven't had the courtesy to respond to my issues.
Dont know of a minivan that holds ten people.....you would be looking at a passenger van..usually an extended cargo van...with seats...like the hotel shuttles use.....no idea if the rent them...
Sorry do not know
You need to ask them. I did see several SUVs in there lot though
The Red carpet has a shuttle from/to airport and cruise port FREE. & the rooms are very nice & clean & good prices too. I stayed there 3 wks ago & will be returning to this hotel for future cruises.
Yes. When you check in at the rental location they will take a temporary deposit from debit cards
Book on line and there is a "skip the line" option that allows you to go directly to the vehicle you chose
Yes, unless you booked it differently. Sometimes you can call them and ask the price of returning at a different location.
Not sure what you mean about picking up at port either. This rental company is in the ft Lauderdale airport car rental center. You can rent online or at the center. However, you select what ever car you want from the car class that you booked. All the cars are lined up with keys in and you chose the car you like in the class that you paid for. As stated from another responder, the picture online is only a representation of what they may offer.
Alamo staff are very friendly and helpful.
Always call them. You get quicker answers. But in my experience it'll cost you more but it's doable
If only for few days then rent
I don't think so
Don't know
