Took 45 minutes to get a car and get out of the garage, first I was told the car was parked in E3, no car in E3 there was one with a matching description in E2, loaded up the car thinking maybe either the person who washed it put it the wrong spot or the counter agent mis marked the spot. Went to leave and was told by the agent working the exit lane of the garage that I had the wrong car and had to go back inside. So I parked went back inside, Waited in line for another 10 minutes and was told to empty the vehicle and go to F10 for a different vehicle. Walk around to find no car in F10. Drug my luggage back inside and this time the agent walks me out to another car which wasn't in the correct spot either but she found it. Apparently, to save a penny they have outsourced the car cleaning and they are doing a horrible job parking and communicating to the counter staff where the cars are parked. The car I ended up with had a service light one and the bumper lose and scratches on the back corner. Maybe I should have rented from rent-a-wreck. I called customer service and after 28 minutes no one picked up the phone. I called back as if I was making a new reservation and eventually spoke to human who seems as if this was normal... Never again!

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS RENTAL COMPANY. The car was unsafe for use and it was rented out to me anyway. The car started to overheat while we were driving in the middle of the highway. Next, the check engine light goes on along with the emergency throttle control system lightning bolt. This happens all before the car gives out on the highway. We were parked on ramp 54 for 4 hours. We called roadside assistance through Avis and no one was helpful. They didn't even follow through with getting us a ride to the airport which was 7 minutes away from where we were. No one apologized to us. The lady at the counter had a stank attitude towards me when we, the customers were in the right. The manager gave us a new rental when we got there, but we were supposed to refunded for the day as well. I am calling about my refund on my deposit and my refund for the day that this rental company ruined for my friends and I. They put drivers in unsafe conditions, and I will never rent from the again.

Do not use! Arrived midnight, one guy working 2 queues, Avis preferred board not working, waited an hour, queues not moving, ended up getting a taxi to Airbnb and coming back in the morning. Next morning, having rebooked online, avis preferred board still not working, big queues, 2 people on the desks, but still waited a long time for service. This was the last day of our holiday and the avis experience last night and this morning has ruined what was otherwise a restful break. Avis is generally great which is why we keep using them. Goodness knows what has happened to give such very poor service at fort Lauderdale airport. I would have said negative stars if I could. Update - apparently their computers haven't been working for 4 months. The queue was massive when we finally got a car because everything is being done manually for preferred and non preferred. There is no system for allocating cars to preferred. Avis and the manager of this outlet needs to DO SOMETHING!

We experienced the worst customer service ever from the lady at the Avis Counter at FLL. It was obvious she did not want to be at work by the rudeness & disrespect she showed us. It was also confusing why Avis would have up the plexiglass barriers for Covid prevention and the lady would not allow us to stand behind them. We are elderly & my husband hearing impaired. I brought this to her attention but there was no compassion or patience shown to us. I’m giving 2 stars because of the kindness & respect shown to us by the two young ladies in the parking garage at at exit station.
