I lived here for 6 months and they’re charging for new paint and cleaning upon move out. The place was spotless when I moved out and legally they cannot charge for paint (not that there was anything to paint), as it falls under normal wear and tear of an apartment. They did a pre move out walk through and we were told there was nothing that they could charge us for. Terrible management.

If you like doing "projects/repairs"...this is a great place to live. if not...look somewhere else. Management is AWFUL! lived with nasty rats running through our house. It took a call to county health department to get anything done. Now...the bottoms are falling out of the drawers. Wonder how long this will take to get fixed. Oh wait...maybe I have to do it myself....sighhhhhhhhhhh Will need to put in a work order for sure...but then again...it will suddently be decalared "fixed" and the request closed.....yeah....need to fix it myself...

Trash management. Charged me a late fee upon move out when I never made a late payment. Stole that $65 after repeatedly telling me (over email, then again in person by two separate management teams -- they were in the middle of switching) it would be removed from my statement. Mark Hewitt, the new manager, ignored my last email demanding they return it. Not enough money for me to pursue further, but enough to bring me here to write this review. They then proceeded to return my security deposit late after the 21 days required by California law. I enjoyed my stay when not having to deal with management, but I don't take kindly to others being negligent with my money. UPDATE: Mark emailed me immediately (literally within a couple hours) after seeing this review saying he would send a check for the missing $65. Seems like it was simply an attempt at getting me to take this review down now as I have received nothing 3 weeks later. I emailed again saying I was still waiting. No response. I stand by my 1-star review.

I moved from Idaho about 3 months ago and signed a lease with Gershwin Apartments before I even got to LA so I literally had no idea what to expect. Being a young woman who lives alone, it's important for me to feel safe and that's actually one reason I prefer apartments over houses, because there are other people around 24/7. Gershwin did not disappoint. From the moment I moved in, Gershwin was super helpful and made me feel like I was in a safe place. One staff member in particular stands out. Calvin works at the front and is always a pleasant face to see. He always welcomes me back and even remembers most residents by name. Makes me feel like I'm at home and in good hands if anything were to ever happen. The maintenance staff is also really awesome and they helped me carry my bed and couch in (this girl ain't strong enough for that haha) when I first arrived. Ya, the apartments are smaller and quite expensive, but for Hollywood, it was actually the cheapest place I could find and the apartments are clean and well renovated.
