The medical staff are the pits. I have had long standing medications changed because some doctor decided he didn't like them, substituting an unknown med. There was no communication with me until I was told I couldn't have it any.A different doctor decided I could not have a painkiller until I agreed to a laxative. Again absolutely no communication about that. The REAL staff are wonderful and I am making great progress. I'd give the rehab staff a 5 and the medical staff 1.

They don't conduct COVID test on discharging patients putting the family and the community at risk. My mother-in-law was misdiagnosed at the facility and then was released. She was tested positive right after her release and caused several members of her relatives get COVID.

This place did amazing job taking very good care of me, I had learn how to eat and walk again. They really took their time and patience with me. Thank you everyone there at Encompass. I would definitely recommend anyone those that needs attention with any rehabilitation.

I am a 77 year old man who was recovering from hip replacement surgery at the Encompass Rehabilitation Center in Woburn Mass. This center is probably the worst rehab center in Massachusetts for someone with moderate orthopedic issues. Their website is misleading and services are poor. Some specifics. 1 – Not mentioned on the website, you are expected to remain in your bed 21 hours per day. This is okay for someone who is bedridden but not for someone who is trying to recover from a hip replacement . Also not mentioned, the beds are alarmed, If you get up an alarm goes off and various staff members come in to berate you Once I waited 40 minutes for a nurse to take me to the bathroom. When I finally got up alarms went off. Then my nurse threatened to zip tie me to my bed, Fortunately she was talked out of it by her colleague. 2 - You are expected to always walk with a walker. When I tried to progress to a cane it was not permitted. I asked if I was expected to spend my life with a walker. They said “Yes it is very common these days” 3 – The knowledge base of the occupational therapists (OT) is shaky. I was given a memory test and scored 26 out of 30. The OT said that put me in the lower part of the memory range. She called my daughter to tell her I was on the verge of having dementia. She didn’t know that the average on the test is about 23. She never bothered to take the on-line training course 4 - When I was released, I was asked to fill out a review for their website and stated my mostly negative opinion. It was never published. Apparently only positive reviews are published 5 – I sent a letter to the Director of Quality expressing my disappointment with the dementia issue. I was hoping to meet with and speak with the OT. He never responded to my letter. It is hard to believe that my insurance company is paying hundreds of dollars daily to have a patient treated that way, I strongly advise that you go to any other facility for short term rehabilitation. I felt Encompass is much like a detention center .
