Beautiful place to stop and stretch. We got out and walked a little ways on the trail. Water was super clear and clean and there was tons of wildlife. We seen 5 different butterflies, birds, and a BIG water moccasin was right by the bridge in the water. They also have grills, picnic tables and a playground.

A beautiful state park with clean facilities and the knowledgeable staff. We are typically there in the spring in the Motor vehicle campground is exceedingly packed. If you have one chance to go try to go around Easter time when the blue bells are opening up along the creek trail.

Cute, small campground that was very clean. Sites are close to each other- reminded me of a KOA. Most of the sites are pull through which is nice. Pros: activities for kids, nice hikes and well maintained, beautiful area, friendly camp hosts. ice and firewood sold on site Cons: small sites, no main water fill Station so you are stopped in the road to fill up and there is only 1 dump station site when you leave. We were in site 40 which is a pull through off the shoulder and looked up a hill. Not my favorite spot but 41 had a much more level view and was closer to the playground.

Spring, summer, fall! It's just beautiful. Fall is MY fav. Spring temps range from 50-80, summer, 75-95 and fall is about 40-60. It takes more than just a drive through to get the full gamut of what it has to offer. . If you camp there, you can get out really early..like just after daybreak. There's usually low lying fog and if you drive, walk, or bike through; you are nearly ALWAYS going to see deer and other wildlife waking up with you. If you have children, you can take them to the many "shows? (Cause I can't think of the word) where the park rangers teach adults and kids many different things; from plants and wildlife to what wild plants to cook and eat and they even made some of the best food...(dandelions!) I've ever ever tasted. Kinda like fried mushrooms. Oh they were good! The kids can earn badges too. It was great! Hope this helps anyone wanting to explore this park. Also.. don't forget the trails. You can also check out horse shoes and volley ball, etc.from the office.
No it doesn't and yes get there early and I would also advise you to wear the swimming shoes
Yes you can they have an area specifically for atv's and dirt bikes.
I think You can ride mtn bikes on the equestrian trails. Call the park.
Donuts are not allowed in state-owned bathing equipment, and due to a technicality the Missouri Supreme Court ruled that hot tubs *could* be used for bathing as well as sex. The good news is that, thanks to a spelling error made by the cartographer who first mapped the St. Francis river, the entire park is considered a French cultural site. Due to this technicality, you *are* allowed to eat beignets while using hot tubs at St. Francois State Park. Hopefully, you will find this a suitable substitution. Sadly, I must inform you that there are no hot tubs at St. Francois State Park. Sorry :(
When you go into the camping area the section to the left has many sights appropriate for tent camping. They may still have electrical hookup unless you want primitive camping which is down the trail at the end of this section. There is also a backpack camp area out Pike Run Trail. The section to the right in the camping area has the big pull throughs for RVs although I have seen tents on some sites also.
You'll have to drive south to Bonne Terre. I'd recommend Hubs Pub. It's bar food but top notch. You can also visit the world famous Bonne Terre Mines while you're there.
I would think so a river runs through the park.
