Spring, summer, fall! It's just beautiful. Fall is MY fav. Spring temps range from 50-80, summer, 75-95 and fall is about 40-60. It takes more than just a drive through to get the full gamut of what it has to offer. . If you camp there, you can get out really early..like just after daybreak. There's usually low lying fog and if you drive, walk, or bike through; you are nearly ALWAYS going to see deer and other wildlife waking up with you. If you have children, you can take them to the many "shows? (Cause I can't think of the word) where the park rangers teach adults and kids many different things; from plants and wildlife to what wild plants to cook and eat and they even made some of the best food...(dandelions!) I've ever ever tasted. Kinda like fried mushrooms. Oh they were good! The kids can earn badges too. It was great! Hope this helps anyone wanting to explore this park. Also.. don't forget the trails. You can also check out horse shoes and volley ball, etc.from the office.
Remember, the park closes nightly at sunset. Best time to visit is relative to what activities you wish to engage during your visit. Late fall, winter, and early spring are less busy periods. Weekdays and early mornings also fall into that category. Peak times are holidays, spring, summer and fall seasons, and weekends. Enjoy your visit!
Early morning best ... No one around usually except wildlife
Beautiful all the time and you will always want more time there.
Heads up. Still only restrooms are immediately to the left at bottom of the hill. Rest still locked this past weekend.
What month is best
Summer is nice, the water is pleasant. We always go in the evenings as there tend to be less people there, but I have never had a bad experience any time or season
