I like coming here but they closed the parking lot and there's no where you can park thats close by. Most of the surrounding neighborhoods have signs that say permit only. It's very frustrating but there's only like 4 street parking spots and you have to be really patient and get lucky. The trail is pretty steep at some point. Very little shade. Take plenty of water.

Definitely an uphill trail 💪 bring water! Very pretty and not too crowded. Street parking.

So many trails and entrances to really take in the beauty.

Found this trial when I was looking for an easy hike while on my lunch break. This place is pretty cool and even managed to spy a couple deer just wandering on the trail. The parking is fairly easy (there’s a lot). Definitely recommend for an easy midday/late morning stroll.

Dogs are not allowed on some trails. Check the website for details. Www.HabitatAuthority.org Dogs are allowed at Hellman Park. also DO NOT HIKE WITH DOGS WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARM OR HOT! Dogs do not sweat like humans and many have been in severe distress or die each year on the trails.
It is closed. Open date is unknown.
Parking is a small problem, but it's good because patience is put to the test, just wait
The city keeps the main entrance on Greenleaf locked at all times. The only entrance open is on Turnbull Canyon just as you go up. Be aware though..it gets EXTREMELY packed and you will look for parking longer than you will actually hike.
Hellman is closed due to the pandemic. Turnbull is open as well as Sycamore. Also check out 3301 Workman mill rd for another trail. Visit www.HabitatAuthority.org for more details. Trails are closed today due to rain but will reopen tomorrow 12/30
Please pay close attention to street parking signs. Also, visit the website for info about other trailheads with ample parking. Www.HabitatAuthority.org
It's determined by how much rain. If it's a lot then the trail should be closed. If not I think it'll be open
Yes. It closes to protect the wildlife. The Arroyo Pescadero is open til sunset. Visit www.habitatauthority.org
To the water tank on the top of the hill and back is only a couple miles. The loop is more
Yes
Trails are open. Check website for policy.
If you want to hike before hellman park open's go to turnbull canyon road, but you have to park about 3 blocks away in the resident's , there is no gate there , and i think it connects to hellman park trail but its pretty far.
If you start at Hellman Park and hike to the white or green water tank, it's about 4 miles, round trip. If you hike to both tanks, it's about 6 miles, round trip.
Yes, there are rattlesnakes up there. They are not just out early in the morning. If it's hot, you can see them anytime of the day. Also you can encounter poison oak. I've seen areas that are full of it. There are coyotes and moutain lions that inhabit these canyons, so be careful, always be aware, and don't take a blue tooth speaker. You might not be able to hear the rattling or suspicious noises.
Go straight up greenleaf, pass orange street and there will be a gate to your right.
Opening time is 9am... Closes when rains ..shiuld be open today but not for sure
