Before I went, it was hard to find info and pics about showers and bathrooms with running water available there. I stayed there and scouted out showers at the Horse camp and at the Red Oak camp. They had hot water. Here's pics of them. (The other toilets all over the park are pit toilets with no running water.) My group had a spot at Walnut Grove camp (which is spots in a field next to other noisy people camping) and we had a spot at Branch Pond camp which was more wooded, and was more preferable.

Excellent park along the James river. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, river tubing, camping and more. The campground is nice with super clean bath houses. All sites have electric and water. Highly recommend.

Great state park, very clean. Nice trails, wonderful campground, cabins, and remote camping. Good weekend visit. No cell phone coverage in area.

This review is for the Red Oak RV camping area. Most sites in this quiet camping area are very spacious (some huge), private, and shaded. The water quality is good. Bathrooms are clean and the showers have ample hot water. Friendly helpful staff. The Red Oak area is in the woods rather than on the water. This is a "dark sky" campground, but very regrettably, we visited on a rainy evening. There are lots of deer that share the campground.

Trails, tubing, fishing, swimming, camping, horse trails
Im not sure we went last weekend it rain the whole time but the cabins are really nice.
We have a boat launch for trailered boats.
Maybe the gift shops have different stuff each time I have been there is a small one at the gate and a main one in the park
$ 4.00. We have smallmouth & large mouth bass, perch, catfish, and primm.
Yes, I fish and hike regularly. I have never camped there. All state parks are like that.
All of the cabins are great for stargazing but if you want if you want the view it would be probably cabins 11 through 15.
