Love Shirlington Dog Park but the creek "water" is seriously contaminated. I do not permit my dog to go through the gate and down over the rocks (also dangerous), and after my neighbor's dog required a vet visit and antibiotics after swimming in the swamp all I can say is "dog owners beware"! Keep your dogs in the park area, going beyond the gates to the water is prohibited anyway.

Love the walk Cesar and I have to get here. He always enjoys the extended play time and being he's a Bloodhound and Ridgeback mix, he requires lots of walking and running. This is where he got over his fear in swimming and loves playing with other dogs.

This is the most spacious off leash park in the Barcroft area. Finding this dog park gave me another reason to appreciate the neighborhood. There’s metered parking on both sides of the park. You can pay for metered parking or find free street parking on a nearby street and get a walk in before visiting the park. If you’re nervous about bringing your small dog there’s a smaller enclosure closest to New District Brewing Company. There are also benches throughout the park for those who want to rest while their dog plays.

I don't think our dog knew what to do with all the space. This park is fantastic: it includes a lot of different surfaces, there are drinking spigots abound, a decent amount of seating for humans (including picnic tables), a good-sized section for small dogs, lots of poop bags available, and even a few jump bars. There's a river that's easy to get to (the first gate at the east end, despite the warning signs, is an easy climb up/down) -- the river isn't fenced in but the riverbanks provide natural barriers.

No. Its a big public park with creek access
Yes, one side is deeper than the other and people often bring their children who swim with their pets
The dog park has reopened with some restrictions and guidelines. To view please go to shirlingtondogs.org
There is a dedicated lot in front of the dog park, however there are only about 20 spots and during peak times, they're filled up. There is street parking within walking distance, though, and finding parking within a few blocks has never been a problem.
yes its a public dog park. small section for small dogs and larger section for all sizes, which access to the creek for dogs to swim.
No. The dogs would have to swim across the creek and climb a hill to escape though.
Behind the storage and shipping business near the baseball field.
