I adopted my dog from Lucky Dog in July 2020 and it was a great experience. Even through the pandemic craziness where rescues were overwhelmed with applications, Lucky Dog did a great job with communication and professionalism. They care about each animal being matched to the right home and care about each person/family being matched to the right animal. My adoption coordinator spent over 30 minutes interviewing me to understand both what I was looking for in a dog and what kind of home I would be providing. After a few weeks of reviewing the available dogs coming to the DC area from their partner shelters in the south, I was matched with my dog, who was an 8-10 month old teen puppy at the time. I am so happy with her. She is extremely smart and well behaved and has been the best addition to my life.

We adopted our little sausage (dachshund) from Lucky Dog and they were phenomenal. They also are saving animals from high kill shelters, which the world needs more of. In terms of the adoption process, our coordinator very communicative when dogs matching our requirements came available and they handled initial vaccinations and some other health related things, which made the initial few months with our first family pet much easier on everyone. Thanks so much Lucky Dog!

I had the best experience working with Lucky dog rescue. My girlfriend and I went through the approval process online before meeting our potential new dog and it was super easy. We worked with Paul, who I could go on and on about how fantastic he was to work with. He was very helpful at explaining everything, very accommodating of your availability, and extremely kind. His passion for these dogs and his desire for them to go to good homes was extremely admirable. The process with Paul and meeting the dog through the foster, Grace, was fantastic - no complaints. The people who work with Lucky dog seem to care very much about these animals, and it shows.

Had an enjoyable experience with Lucky Dog and their team. They made sure I understood everything there was to know about every dog I met before I met them. Ended up adopting my dog Stenson, and we are such a good fit. The only thing I will say is that they don’t guarantee the breeds of dogs so if that is something that is important to you, be sure to ask about their match making program since that’s a process where they make sure they pair you with a dog based on your breed and temperament expectations.

Thank you so much for reaching out and for your interest in fostering with Lucky Dog Animal Rescue! Our fosters are a key part of our rescue and rehome process, as they provide temporary housing for Lucky Dogs and Cats while they find their forever homes. The more fosters we have, the more lives we can save! You can read more about fostering on our website luckydoganimalrescue.org/volunteer/foster.
We don’t believe they are littermates but are thrilled you are interested in adopting. Please fill out an application found at luckydoganimalrescue.org/adopt and one of our volunteers will be in touch ASAP.
Unfortunately we are local to Washington, DC and require all adopters to come to us to adopt. Many of our adopters are from out of state and travel to the area to adopt from us.
Dear Barbara, Please visit our website at luckydoganimalrescue.org and fill out an application. Our team will be happy to help you find your perfect puppy once they receive it. Regards, Team Lucky Dog
We find Mr. Orlowski's statement mystifying. All of our animals receive age appropriate vaccines before adoption. Moreover, we are not an animal shelter, but a foster based rescue. We have checked our records and have not, to our knowledge, ever interacted with Mr. Orlowski.
