Took Amtrak from LA Union Station to Solana Beach in San Diego. It took about 2 hours and was a pleasant trip! You can purchase tickets online, leave your car at Union Station (I believe $8 all day), and board from the platform onto the second floor (first floor is for handicap and other special exceptions). The train has a bathroom (not the cleanest but not terrible and it has bathroom seat covers so that made it all great), a wall charger for the one sitting closest to the wall, WIFI, the chair reclines, foot rest, and a tray table. The train also has an area you can purchase food and drink from if you need it. It's best to arrive about 15-20 min early to be able to claim a good seat on the train. We chose the window seat to view the beautiful ocean after passing Irvine and the rest of the trip to Solana Beach! The train usher who checked our tickets was super cheery and helpful! He was an older gentleman and very well suited for his job! I heard him let some people know where their exit was and let a family know that a person was leaving next stop and that the ocean view was coming up so he would move them to the window seat to see it all! The only part I didn't like was returning on the train from Solana Beach to Union Station at 7pm-ish and there were about 20+ rowdy and drunk people coming from the horse races. I heard cops were downstairs with them so that was good they were being monitored but they initially walked through the second floor trying to find seats. They were insanely loud and some of them stumbled upon the chairs. I know this cannot be prevented as public transportation includes a lot of inevitable variables. Concerning Union Station, they have a random aquarium near the bathrooms and entrance, itβs gotten semi cleaner but still has urine smell when walking through the halls, and there are plenty staff available to help. Still many homeless inside and outside. But the abundance of staff at Union Station shows some order.

First time on train π. Good experience. Had lunch at the Traxx . Excellent place to have lunch when. I had 1 1/2 layover .

We all know this place is gorgeous and humongous. The employees at the ticket counter to security is professional and helpful when you need it. Restrooms are pretty clean for the influx of people going in. Centrally located and awesome architecture, a classic main hub in the city.
Jacqueline Trybe
The place is enormous! All the staff I encountered were courteous & professional

Yes, there is an Avis/Budget and Hertz
There's onsite parking as well as neighborhood street parking. Cheapest is to park in Chinatown and walk to the station
Amtrak station (waiting room) hours are listed as open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Ticket office is closed from midnight to 4:00 am.
No, not lockers. But if you're holding an Amtrak ticket, for a fee, baggage claim will hold baggage temporarily.
Trains are not 24 hours. Most lines run until 1am to 2am and commence again between 4am to 6am. Union Station open 24/7 but some services closed after midnight.
Parking is available at Union Station. I wouldn't recommend parking anywhere else if it's overnight or really late at night. The price isn't too expensive and worth the convenience.
4:10 am from Union Station west bound 4:32 East bound from West Hollywood.
No, apparently not. Many buses and trains offer wifi. But it seems that a contractual dispute has kept wifi out of the station itself.
Yes there for Amtrak customers and seating union is well organized with customers
Yes
Welcome to City of Angels. Please let someone know where would you like to go.
Amtrak ticket holders can store baggage 24 hours for $10 per item. There are, however, many services listed online for baggage storage nearby at cheaper rates.
I think so. There's not a lot of places to sit other that the Amtrak lounge, which is only available for checked-in Amtrak travelers. There's a couple places to sit outdoors at the rear end of the building near the bus bay, and while waiting to get picked up out front. There are a few 24/7 restaurants in town as well. You might want to check in with security to let them know which train you're waiting for, and at what time for your own safety. Good luck and happy travels!
Sorry you would have to call and ask.
I would go to a local pharmacy to get your disabled TAP card if I were you.
what are you saying?
The last one leaves from union station I believe at 4:20 pm. That one has multiple stops and boarding of a different train. The best train to catch is, the 3:45 pm train. That one has less stops. Gets there faster. Feel free to check yourself online. I remember seeing this schedule last week which was the 1st time ever taken a train.
That depends on a number of variables such as how far you are traveling, an adult, student, senior/disabled, round trip, one way and so on. There is also a flat fee weekend pass. MetroLink has a marvelous app in android and ios, it's a free app. It keeps up to the hour updates, you can even pay for your ticket from the app if you choose. It is very informative, well designed, and very user friendly. If you plan to use MetroLink on a regular basis or maybe having visitors that want to see SoCal I highly recommend this app. (and I am not in anyway connected with MetroLink or the app developer).
You should check their website for faster information.
Yes
There is an Information booth at the Main Entrance
Hello Ms. Sao, Most trains to Las Vegas depart from Amtrak Metrolink Station - 7724 Van Nuys Blvd. Prices start from $59.95. I believe you can also take a train from Union Station to San Bernardino and then a bus to the Vegas Strip. Those are 2 options that I know of, but there may be others that I'm not aware of. You can try this website : wanderu.com Happy Holidays
You do not have to change trains.
It is located upstairs. Check at the Amtrak counter and they can direct you.

There is no phone number. You have to purchase using their app or at vending machine
The structure combinesΒ Art Deco, Mission Revival, andΒ Streamline Moderne style (Wikipedia)
You're probably best off calling the specific restaurant or train operator you're looking to reach.
Yes! Sign up online through CORE response or just walk up, there's plenty of availability
Keith was really helpful and nice. I'm sure you'll be able to find him and he'll lead the way π€£β€
Parking Lot B is the short term surface parking lot located directly off of Alameda St
Yes
I ride the Coast Starlight frequently. Even when the train gets in late around 10:00 p.m., I've never had any serious difficulty getting a Lyft or Uber. The longest I've ever waited was 15 minutes and that was when a Dodgers game was getting out. Typically I wait 5 to 10 minutes. The rideshare pickup area is located just outside the main entrance and to the right. If you need directions, ask any staff member or police officer, I've always found them very willing to help. The Coast Starlight is a very relaxing way to travel, I highly recommend it! ππ€οΈποΈ
Yes
They have a station stop outside of union station for boarding and off boarding
I think I think it's from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. all day long you good to top and go
And
Yes
I believe so
It should, if it would for a printed ticket
Depends: Amtrak - NO, Metro - yes, Metrolink - yes, Bus - yes. Amtrak requires ID to purchase which is attached to the purchaser. They don't check your ID when boarding. All other transport services requires ticket purchases. Although, it may be illegal to give your ticket to someone else. Beware, you have been warned.
Because the train is on tracks
It's called the Flyaway Bus, you have to catch it at the Union Station Patsaouras Bus Transit Plaza at the Upper East Level.
To be honest I would not know the price of that. But I know its not that cheap.
There is a bus called the FLYAWAY which takes you directly to LAX. But there is also public transportation which is the MTA train. You can purchase the day pass for $7.00. The only thing is that you have to take multiple trains. Catch the Red Line, to the Blue Line going to Long Beach, and then catch the Green Line which takes you close to LAX and will have to catch another bus from there.
No, just need to buy a ticket either online or in person
Union Station is a major station for metros and Amtrak plus other trains. I'm sure there are amenities for bike. However, I don't understand your question regarding bike stations for storage/ parking or bike station for rental bikes. Check Metro website for details or call them. Staffs at Metro phone emergency customer services, phone #'s located on signs @Metro stations, are really friendly. I chatted with about my questions.
Find out if your family even made it on to the train. Hopefully they are not elder or at risk. Good luck be safe
For certain..look up decent hotels and you should be able to locate what you request..
n
To the best of my knowledge, there's no service to Needles by train, but I believe there's bus service (greyhound?) might be available...
A quick metro to 7th St (five min?) has lots of options
Outside is better!
800 N. Alameda St. Los Angeles, CA.
I don't think the meteo link goes to San JosΓ© from Union Station. you would have to take the greyhound or the amtrak
Idk Espanol
1716 east 7th street.
I do think so, they are away from the Union station according to Google maps.
Decide whether you want to take either an Amtrak or Metrolink train. Both will get to Union Station. Purchase the correct ticket, then board the northbound train that matches your ticket.
1 800 USA RAIL
Hello Ms. Currie: I believe the Pacific Starliner would get you there. Call 1 800 872 - 7245 to be certain. Happy Travels
The shuttle us usually at the south end of the driveway in front of the station.
Translation "What departure time do they have? they arrive in bakersfield at visalia ca. ? what price is it?" Where are you wanting to depart from? Do you want to go to Bakersfield or Visalia? They are an hour apart.
You should be able to do that, but I would use Google maps to to easily direct you from Union Station to Ventura Court house. Using the app will tell you what buses or trains you need to take and how long it'll take to get there. Hope that helps you out.
Yes, from Patsaouras bus stop you can ride the LAX flyaway. Ir stops at all terminals. When boarding you will get asked for your airline, yo know where to drop bagagge.
2 answers: a. You can easily go in and out. B. No In-N-Out restaurant there. Subway and a fancy restaurant are there. Ben & Jerry icecream is also there.
Not sure about that schedule!
Yes. Go to there website for dates and times. The site will also tell you if the train was canceled
Better to check the app or website to get precise times and prices
Yes exit 7th street metro center . there is also a chase atm at union station
By train, I do not know if the last one is at 7 o'clock at night but make sure you first ok, since I have taken the metrolyn and that's the time, luck
9:06am. It takes an hour and 37 minutes to get there
Do you mean a transfer between Metrolink trains and metro rail Subway? All is inside limits of uniΓ³n station, only a little walk into the Main corridor at the station is all you have to do, maybe both things are about 200 yards away each other.
I am not sure I'm sorry
No you can't!
Union Station is not a good place to park for Dodger Games. There are far more cheaper and closer locations in silver lake area
Hello Ms. Calderon: You can park in the Union East Parking area for up to 30 days at a cost of $8.00 per day. Happy travels.
I felt very safe but, it is good to always be alert and careful wherever you go!
Absolutely. There's a strong police presence and surveillance cameras everywhere. The actual waiting area is exclusively for ticketed passengers and those waiting for arriving passengers are not allowed. It's a well run operation.
The station has drop off and pick up at curbside. There's a parking lot in front if the person is early or the passenger is delayed.
Yes, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't think of those who have pet allergies. If you bring pets, don't let them intrude the personal space of others.
There is not a direct service from here by train. You have to take Subway purple or red line to 7th street metro center station, then change to blue line. Right now blue line is under repair, so service is given up to 103rd street. At june 1st, the northern part Will close. A shuttle bus service paralell to blue line is set for temporal replacement. So the train is for one part of the ride and you have to change to a bus. Blue line Will be fully operational until September.
yes they have, 9am to 5pm and Sunday closed
It is best to call the station, there could rate increases from the last time I used them.
The LA Grand Hotel Downtown by Marriott. 20 minute walk.
https://www.unionstationla.com/dining-amenities
There isn't one very nearby (1.1 mile away). If you like Mexican food checkout Olvera Street which is right across the way (a short walk) from Union station. Great food to be had there. Not really any "fast food" inside of Union station. Here's a link to the restaurants that are in Union station. https://goo.gl/3UnkNq Cheers!
I'd plan for an hour. Traffic is heavy most of the time and the two most likely routes involve driving on LA's busiest freeways.
Yes ,but you can ask @ Union Station for help they have specializing transportation for Disable.!
Downtown San Diego station is the Santa Fe Depot. Old Town is the stop just north. There's no trick there. Just park in the parking lot and wait for your guest.
Overnight parking is available at the Union Station East parking garage.Β I found this information on this website. https://www.unionstationla.com/visit
Hello Mr. Stephen: There are motels around the train station. If you have an app. you may get a good deal. You can also take the Gold Line and find a cheap motel in Alhambra or Monterey Park. It all depends on your trains departure time. Best of Luck
You can go to the information booth or call 323- go.metro
6:00 I think
Park or pick up in pickup area. Coordinate with passanger to have a pick up plan.
Try here - https://m.amtrak.com/h5/booking
Like $ 200-400 millet
Of course there is! There is a big rotary in front of the station that you can pick up.
If it's daytime you can take the Red Line Subway to Hollywood or Universal City which are popular tourist destinations. Chinatown is also a stop away on the Metro Gold Line. Across the street is historic Olvera Street where you can find museums that talk about the Mexican Culture in the area.
Yes.
Hello Ms. Manger, UCLA is 16.8 miles from Union Station. You can transfer to the Purple Line at Union Station and then get off on the Wilshire/Western exit and then ride the 720/20 Metro bus to UCLA. Happy Holidays
There is a bus run by "Flyaway" which goes from bus stop 1 in the Bus Plaza on the east side of Union Station. The buses run every half hour on the hour and at half-past (hourly from 1am to 5am and Monday to Friday every 20 minutes from 5:30am to 9:30am). The cost is $9.75 one way and you can use Debit, Credit or TAP cards (cash is not accepted, although you can buy online in advance at www.lashuttletix.com). The journey takes around 35-45 minutes depending on which terminal you require and what time of the day you travel.
Isidro. There are machines to buy * Tap Cards. in all Metro stations. Union Station being the main station. In addition, several businesses and stores offer the charging of rates to your Tap card and the sale of these. The cost of a Tap Card is $ 2. You can use it and reuse it as many times as you want until the date it expires, which is a jet of time. Greetings and enjoy your stay in L.A.
Looks it a Google's Map! Not this questions!
dont think so
It depends on what class of ticket and where you are going. Look at www.amtrack.con
$8.50 Single, $17 Round Trip. If travelling at the weekend, you can use the $10 day pass for a round trip.
Yes it is a short walk just follow the sign
You can leave your luggage at the Amtrak parcel check. You do NOT need an Amtrak ticket. If you do, it's $10 per bag, if you don't $20.
The flyaway bus is only $9.00 or so. Use that. I have, its a quick bus ride. They drop you off right in front of your airport terminal at LAX.
Yes, but only if you have an Amtrak ticket.
Most likely no. Check their webpage to send a email for a complaint
It appears to be an away game on that day, so no.
6 am/10:30pm
The LAX flyaway runs 48 buses daily, every 30 minutes (or less during rush hour) between LAX to Union Station.
Lots along the red line. Ritz-Carlton the holiday inn, The Bonaventure, the Biltmore. Minutes away from Union Station along the red line
No, the Los Angeles Greyhound station is not located at Union Station. It is a drop-off point only for some Greyhound buses, discharging riders only. You cannot board at Union Station.
The trip is an hour and a half. The cost on Amtrak is $ 22.75. Metrolink is also an option.
There are no direct trains. You van go to Yuma and then take a bus.
Try Bolt Bus. They're very good, with very low prices the earlier you book. You can book online. Amtrak also buses to LV, but the trip is longer due to more stops. Amtrak does give a 10% discount for people on disability though--only the person on disability, not fellow travelers. Since Bolt Bus if a subsidiary of Amtrak, it might also give the same discount.
Union Station West has 2 short term parking lots, B and D. Each charges $2.00 per 15 minutes or $16.00 maximum per day. Lot B is open 4:00 am to midnight. Lot D is open 6:00 am to 10:00 pm
Go to Google Maps, and you can find out.
If you have a train or bus ticket, use the Amtrak Baggage Claim at the Passenger Concourse. This will cost $ 20 for a total of 24 hours. If you have an Amtrak ticket, the price is half off.
A small carry-on is OK
Is Only red line..
When I was heading south, the Metrolink only goes to Oceanside. Don't know about Amtrak. I use the Metrolink app to find schedules and order tickets. Highly recommended!
Please check their website.
All contracted Amtrak buses loads and discharges across from the Metro Red Line entrance/exit inside Union Station (Alameda St. side)
No not that I know of
If you are just driving and not walking inside, passenger pick-up is in front at 800 N. Alameda Street. If parking your car, there is a short term parking lot (600 spaces) available at Union Station parking West, lots B and D. Cost is $2.00 for every 15 minutes. Enter parking garage off of front door area (N Alameda) or E Cesar Chavez Avenue.
Metro is on holiday schedule and is free all day Christmas AND New Year.
Union Station is a center with many offices from different transit agencies. Metro, Metrolink, Amtrak, Greyhound, and more.

Depends on what your requirements are. Go on your smart phone, Google maps and put in Union Station and look fir hotels that are near. It'll give you a better idea of choices.
Which bus? There are various buses leaving from Los Angeles to Orange County and have various hours of departures.
If Amtrak, dogs are allowed to travel with a person (no shipped pets) for $25 if the pet is 20 lbs or less. All service animals are allowed, for free.
You can catch Metrolink from Union Station to Lancaster CA, then take the Eastern Sierra Transit bus to Mammoth Lakes.
Many local transit operators accept the metro tap card and foothill transit is one of those.
It depends on the train, your seat, number in party, and the time. Check Amtrak's website for planning a trip.
Union Station is not a bus depot. You should check with the Greyhound bus lines or Metro's bus lines.
Schedules are posted online. Check Metrolink or Amtrak websites
Any questions, it's best to go to Amtrak website. I don't think Amtrak monitor questions here.
Just look up the schedule. Google Maps information for the station won't show it. That would be like trying to book a flight by looking at LAX on Google Maps
Hi there weekend is $ 10 Metrolink get off at Oceanside get on Coaster $ 13 on weekend takes you right to Old Town. Have fun
You have to take Amtrak
Yes. From 4am. to 1 am
Usually, but they have been less these past few months. That said train has broken down this week and caused delays for Antelope Valley trains.
There is an Amtrac.
Go to desk near Fly Away. They will be able to help. If they can't go online Google LA Metro and follow links. You'll need your Student ID and your schedule. Hope this helps
