I lived here for a number of years, and for the most part do not have many complaints. Office staff and maintenance were very friendly, responsive and helpful. The age of the complex is showing in some ways, and there are some things that could be done to improve that, which I'll go into detail for below. Utilities here do not leave much to complain about, though heating/cooling can be quite expensive (electric via Evergy), and the insulation (at least for my unit) was not the best. The thermostats in the unit are extremely basic and would be better replaced by something more modern with an LCD touch screen at minimum. The air conditioning unit itself needed maintenance yearly, which probably isn't too uncommon for apartments, and the most common issue was that the unit needed to be sprayed off; why the maintenance crew didn't do that pre-emptively each year? I have no idea. Walls, ceilings, and floors are not the best for sound insulation. Floors and ceilings were actually worse for us, as footsteps above shook the lighting in the kitchen, and you could easily hear loud voices through the ceiling. Loud neighbors can be a problem anywhere, but I would urge you to document dates and times this occurs, as the office can work with you on it, and any other complaint. The options for internet providers are limited (either Google Fiber or AT&T), but with Google Fiber, you don't need other options. The trash situation... they have one dumpster/compactor for the entire complex, and it frequently (basically every 3 days) was overflowing. The apartment management NEEDS to get a larger compactor and/or a second one for the complex. You might meet some furry raccoon friends while you drop off your trash. Mail/package delivery was spotty at times. Amazon/UPS/FedEx were the most reliable during my time here. I strongly recommend creating delivery accounts with UPS/FedEx if you don't already have them. I did not have any of my packages stolen during my time here. Security and parking leave a lot to be desired. Parking spaces are tight, and the covered spaces (assigned spaces) are even tighter. Usually by early evening, most parking spaces are taken, and certain areas of the complex might have even fewer spaces available. Lighting at night wasn't the best, and I'm not aware of the apartment complex using any security patrols or cameras for the property. They could easily make the complex gated but haven't done so. You can easily find crime reports data for this zip code, as well as another news report from 2021, to see that SOME amount of deterrent might be enough deterrent, instead of having none at all.

1 of the best places I have ever lived. The area is quiet & well maintained and the staff is responsive. I never had a issue with parking during my stay..

I do enjoy barre woods I’ve been here for 4 months now, there was no issues moving in that I could remember everything went smooth & my apartment was perfect. The rent is a little expensive but I have so many many amenities which is a big reason I chose this place. I can say it’s pretty safe as well, no complaints or even loud neighbors but I will say the parking is the only issue, if you work anywhere out of the normal schedule you will have to try to find a spot late at night

Yes, have a couple different sized 1 bedroom apartments. I lived in both varieties there, each under $900/mo.
It's a 35 dollar flat fee for your water sewer and trash. KCPL does your electric. Everything is electric so dont worry about gas anything.
