Great staffs. The ship was not crowded. We saw whales, dolphines, sea lions, etc....

We had an amazing time! The staff was fantastic. The Captain drove at the perfect pace and the Marine Biologist was a wealth of knowledge. We saw two different pods of dolphins as well as a Mommy and baby humpback. The baby breeched multiple times too. The entire trip was even better than we expected, qnd we already had high hopes due to recommendations. We cannot recommend this company enough and next time we are in Monterey we will be coming back.

Blue Ocean Whale Watching is the only whale tour I'll ever use. While I understand much of whale watching is luck, Kate and her crew found us 4 species of whale, numerous species of birds, otters, and sea lions over the course of our trip. The crew was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and the tour itself was very comfortable despite increasing winds making for some chop. As it was my first time, I was of course very impressed, but many people on the small tour I undertook were regulars-- a sure sign of the quality of this tour group.

What a amazing day to see several pairs of whales. The crew, who is most knowledgeable, made the experience even better. This is a small company that pays attention to their customers. From the minute you step on board you feel comfortable and you’re in for an enjoyable journey.

We called them as they actually had more spots available than the website so they could squeeze us in.

From USAToday Travel Tips: Monterey Bay. There are two seasons for whale watching in Monterey Bay, home of a world-famous aquarium. Visit from mid-December through mid-April to see gray whales, dolphins and killer whales migrating, or visit from mid-April through mid-December to see humpback whales, blue whales, dolphins and killer whales.per

It can get rough up top since it swings more, hold on at all times. The Blue Ocean crew is great! You can see fine from the lower deck too. Most people on the trip we did didn't even want to go up top.

Will you accept walk ins? How much ? We are a group of 5 and we plan to go whale watching on sept 21 what time are your schedule cruise? Where do we go? Pls get back to me thanks.

Sarabeth Queale | Aug 24, 2018

As far as I know, they do allow walkins for scheduled tours. However, the tours are very popular. Reserving your seats online is a good idea, especially if you're in a large group. Currently, there is a tour with availability on the 21st at 10 am. It is $50 for adults and $40 for children. Whale sighting is guaranteed, and the weather has been excellent and clear. I hope that you will have fun!

My wife and I have never been whale watching. We were thinking about next Saturday or Sunday. Which time of day will offer the best opportunity to see whales?

Michael Petrone | Aug 24, 2018
Alison Hui | Aug 24, 2018

You see different things at each trip, but mornings tend to be calmer. Sunset gives great light for photographing the whales
